Lyme & Colitis

It's not that unusual. Lyme is an inflammatory infection. it actually causes inflammation in between our cells.

I have inflammation in my intestines, although I don't suffer from colitis myself. Still, it's not fun.

I was never diagnosed with colitis, but I received treatment for it. I know it sounds a bit strange, but my dr put me on an eliminating diet, on antibiotics, very strong probiotics and Colitofalk (Mesalazine) for several months. I felt much better after it, but that was before I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease (but already sick for 17 yrs back then). A stool test showed a total Strep overgrowth (aerobe count 0,5% E.Coli, 99,50% Strep), but I didn't get a colonoscopy.

Yes I had Lyme when I was 3 years old and now have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at 34.
