Sudden allergic reaction to minocycline

I have taken minocycline on numerous occasions with no issues. I've suddenly developed an allergy to it and had an anaphylactic episode requiring medical intervention last time I took it. I fear I will no longer be able to take doxy as well. I've had minimal symptoms for the last several years but my symptoms have recently returned with a vengeance. Anyone else able to take doxy if you're allergic to mino?

Hey there! I found out when I was twelve that I am allergic to Tetracycline and that eliminates all cyclines for me. If you were able to take it for a while I do wonder why you developed an intolerance for it.

It is possible then that the intolerance is for an ingredient other than the "cycline" part. Even if it is, like for me, there is no shortage of alternative antibiotics to treat you so do not worry there! ;)

I am allergic to Minocycline. I was on it for a week and 30 min after a dose my lips began to swell and itch. It really surprised me when I realized it was an allergic reaction. I did not try it again. I have taken Doxycycline for years without a problem.
I would he hesitant to take any of the cyclines if it had been an anaphylactic reaction, though. Much more serious.
