Should I lie to my LLMD?

I agree with Achievinggrace. Your paying a lot of money for this doctor's opinion. Explain your fear of needles and about the drive - and that you would rather not have to do that. If you don't like your doc's answer, find another LLMD that will understand your situation and your issues with needles and the drive.

If you lie to them and then the meds don't work - then what? It was all based on a lie you told, so the doc will get the wrong impression or you will have to admit to lying to them. Neither one is a good choice from what I see.

But a word about the drive - many drive a lot further than an hour to see their LLMD, so be cautious about jumping ship with this doc. I used to have to drive 5 hours each way to see my LLMD when I was using one, then I switched to alternative meds and was so very grateful that I only had to drive 1 & 1/2 hours each way to see her.

If you've read that it takes longer for Rocephin to cause a response, and want to trial it a bit longer...would your Dr. not agree...to do another couple weeks?

I don't know anything about length of time with IV antibiotics...but it does seem premature for a response.

Hopefully others with IV Rocephin experience will chime in.


If I really wanted it, and there was no other way, I might lie.
I have felt desperation at times with lyme disease....and in the end, I would do what I need to do. I thought I might have to order antibiotics over the internet without a prescription - I was prepared to do it if I had to ....to get well.

But, like Trav said...the trust might be gone...if you end up having to tell your Dr. that you lied to get more Rocephin.

I think I would just ask her to trial it a little longer...and maybe she'll agree?

I don't see how just 6 doses would be enough to tell you if something is working. Maybe I am not understanding what your LLMD is trying to do? My LLMD says at a minimum he puts PICC lines in for 3 months for neurological lyme. I did not see a real difference until month 4.

Is your LLMD trying to see if you have an adverse effects?

She will leave the PICC in for 6 months to a year. But before she will ok the PICC, she wants to see me either improve or herx on rocephin. Otherwise, she feels that it's the wrong drug. Then she will switch me to zithro IV and have me do infusions in her office for 2 weeks before ordering a PICC....again to see if it's the right med. she's looking for both adverse reactions as well as progress.

Makes no sense! How could I improve that quickly? Ive been sick for 6 yrs! I'm sure it will take some time.

I have a raging headache right now! I wonder if it's a herx from the rocephin???

I was just going to say what Jrpsf said. So you could most definitely be herxing. You may not have to worry about this at all.

Try to trust your Dr. If you feel nothing it may not be doing enough. I herxed for 6 to 8 weeks before I felt better on rocephin. I could not tolerate IV zith at all but another person in the IV room felt better almost immediately with it. I guess what I'm trying to say is everyone is different and all drugs effect us differently. Keep a good log and be honest with your dr. I hope you feel better soon

Remember that everybody reacts in a different way. Some see results in weeks, some in months and some in years. I agree with what was said by Jrp and Traveler, if you are getting headaches from the treatment, then it may be a herx. And the other members are right, if you are paying this Dr. Then you make your sugestions. Remember, you want to get well and she wants you to get well too. You are both working together. Be honest with her and she will work some of your sugestions too. I am pretty sure she wants to work with you, i do not think she would want to lose you as a patient, you know, finding another LLMD. That what i would do.
