Need good information for Lyme treatment near Portland, Oregon

Granddaughter just diagnosed with Lyme disease. Many neurological symptoms and we don't know where to turn. Children willing to travel for best treatment possible for their daughter. Granddaughter now not able to go to school, it has been a 3-4 year process. Just heard she tested negative on stool sample but blood work was positive for both Borrellia and Bebesosis. Any help would be most appreciative.

Hi Sue - So sorry to hear your Granddaughter has lyme disease...and for so long. She is a lucky girl that she has a supportive family to help her heal.

How far is Portland from Seatlle? I know there is a LLMD in Seattle.

Keep coming back to check - I'm sure others will post on here with some ideas for you.

If you will go to your profile and enable your email, I'll send you the name of a good doctor in the Portland area. We go to him, as do several in the Portland Lyme support group, which is good to go to for support and to learn more about Lyme. I can send that information too. There were several new members yesterday. It's a good sized group too.

We live in Portland as well and have an upcoming appointment for our 4 year old with a doctor who is an ND. If that works out well I will give you her info as the appointment is this friday. I'm hoping so as there was a box to check for lyme on the intake form…

Our whole family has lyme, right now her dad and I see a TCM/naturopathic/chiropractic doctor (who also sees children, though our daughter is too shy with him). He doesn't use antibiotics, but is personally affected by lyme. Let me know if you're interested in more info.

Also-
Garden Peace - We're moving in a few months an hour and a half away but we'd be interested in the support group info as well as we will be around.

Hello wildGarden. I'm sorry to hear your whole family has Lyme. Did you move here from another state or did all of you get infected here? Just curious since I haven't met a whole family that is sick here.

Is it Dr. R. you're going to with your 4 year old? We can't mention their names on the forum, so that's why I abbreviated it.

We'd like to move away from the area too, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away, depending on traffic.

I live in Portland, Oregon metro are and desperately need to start a Lyme support group! I would even love to host in my home! Has anyone ever done this before and/or could advise me?

Thank you everyone who responded. I think I now have my email cleared to receive personal replies. My daughter-in-law thinks our granddaughter would do better in a treatment program where she can go with family for an extended period. Any thoughts? There is a ND in Kansas who has been quite successful. He is the only one I've read so far that does not say "you have to get worse before you get better."
I am still very interested in any suggestions for the Portland area or Seattle. GD has high ammonia count. She is currently seeing a methylation doctor but is on waiting list for everyone else. We do have information on the support group that meets in Portland on the first Sunday of every month.

Hi, Welcome to the forum. My family lives in the Portland area too. Even though there is a support group in Portland, I wish there was one closer to where we live, 20 min. west of Portland. I am not so keen on going into the city, but we will probably do it at some point.
Garden, Are you still thinking of moving to Corvallis. It's so windy there! LOL

We're considering it, having lived there for a year before. It's not that windy there, less than here I think. You must've just caught it on some windy days. :) It was sure windy here today!

Garden, Actually our eldest went to OSU and lived there for several years. According to her it's colder in the winter and hotter in the summer. How about Sherwood or Newberg or even out our way. (: Most of the people who live in Corvallis are either students or retired people....more students probably with the university there.

We lived there a year. Our daughter is graduating this year, and she got a job here. So that would make it harder to move. We didn't notice the college kids when we lived there. I liked the people there, very humble, even the rich ones. We'll see what we do. I won't go anywhere while we're sick.

Maybe we should take this to email so we don't hijack her thread any more. I'd like to chat with you more.

Just want to say "HI!" to my Oregon people. I'm from Corvallis but moved to Seattle 11 years ago. My family still lives there and I visit often. Anyway - love seeing other Pac NW folks on here. GO BEAVS!

Salmon Sue, you're going to know all the docs in the NW pretty soon! :) There just aren't enough for all the sick people. If you can make it to the next meeting, you might be able to learn about more doctors and hear what people think of them. Many of them use various means to get well, so it's a good group.

Hi back at ya Agent9er! That's a long drive to Corvallis from Seattle. Hopefully you live near the southern part.
