Kayaklove, I took clarithromycin along with Amoxicillin when I first began to treat Lyme. The combination of the two did well in treating Lyme but it did nothing to treat Bartonella. As a matter of fact, my Bartonella symptoms became more prominent (while on clarithromycin) as Lyme began to recede.
I have found Rifampin and Bactrim to be very effective against Bartonella.
I should also mention that most magnesium testing is inaccurate because most of the magnesium in the body resides outside the blood. Being that your blood magnesium is low probably indicates that your body magnesium is also low. Not all magnesiums are alike. Magnesium Oxide which is found in most supplements is very poorly absorbed and often causes gastrointestinal issues in higher quantities. Better ones are magnesium malate, magnesium citrate, magnesium l-threonate and not in that order.
