It seems like over the past month I have begun to get progressively worse and worse. This past Monday even I had my worst day ever.

Is it simply because I started treatment 3 weeks ago... Maybe it is the wrong treatment and the Lyme is getting worse... Does a herx do this I thought one did not last this long?

I have only had one appointment and I am in no way distrusting his treatment. I know that he had to do all of that blood work and get that in to know exactly what to do (it came in this week and I also have the gene mutation they test for -they called) and everything will change next week at my second appointment.

I am just curious and trying to make sure that I will be able to identify what a herx is and know whether or not the symptoms are just coming full head on. Any thoughts and help on this is greatly appreciated. 💚

When they called...I have a gene mutation? Now metanx which my insurance does not pay for. :( I do not understand this either. How will this be benificial? Will this make a difference with what has happened? I worry about being a pain and making too many threads.

Cajuncootie - You're not being a pain...please don't feel that way.

I can't answer your gene mutation question...I don't know anything about metanx.

I think maybe your body has been in a herx...and it's perhaps building because your detoxing hasn't caught up with the die-off...I don't know for sure...but this is a possibility.

Are you doing a lot of detoxing to help your body deal with the toxins?

If it gets too bad, you can back off to half dose of antibiotics for a couple days...and see what happens - see if your symptoms improve a bit.

I know a little about the gene mutation. It's quite common & something about the detox pathways being blocked. It's really good if your dr will address this. I don't know much about it but seems complicated to treat with out a drs guidance. I tried on my own and had a very bad reaction. I believe it has something to do with b12 menthyl and folate version folic acid. Please let us know how it goes. I think addressing this can really benefit treatment. I wish my dr addressed this but plan to look into. What test did you do? Was it 23 & me?

It could have been 1, 2 and you for all I know! Sorry, dorky joke there. Lol. It is definitely on my plan for my appointment next week to find out what all six vials of blood taken were for!

I just seem to be really down about all of these pills and I know I am probably not even at halfway of where I will be when we really get going. I hated adding another because of the mutation.

I do not know if the whole Lyme thing is the reason but I have lost 7 pounds in the last month or so. Granted I could lose 50 more and it would be great but I just do not want it to be because I am depressed or sick.

I was about three weeks into my treatment initially when the herx hit -- felt like I had been run over by a very large truck! It is a good sign, that is for sure.

It is good that your doctor is going to help you with the mutation that makes it hard for you to detox. When I started treatment that was not available. It should make you feel much better.

Try not to be down about all the medicines -- if you can view them as the cavalry coming to rescue you and help you, they will work much better for you and your mood will be better.

Take heart, you are on your way back to feeling good.

Some people like to say a little affirmation before taking pills. You could say something like "This medicine is supporting my health" or something else you feel resonates with you.
