Galaxy Diagnostics Bart

I just received my Galaxy Diagnostic results for Bartonella & hoping someone can help me understand the results. It was not found in the blood by pcr but the serology for antibodies igg was positive for Bartonella Quintana. I have not spoken to my dr yet but the lab says it can be related to past infection & that bart can be asymptomatic implying I don't have a current infection. But I never treated bart & my immune is clearly low from having lyme & treating for over 10 months.
Does anyone have experience with this lab or an opinion on this? They say that it is the best in the country to detect Bart. I am new to this forum & hoping others have some exoerience with it.

Sunny, I agree with Simela, it's time to focus on treatment if you tested postive for Bart. What are your symptoms?

My tests came back the same igG positive for batonella henslea but not positive for lyme by igenix md labs in nj came up w the bartonella but pcr was negetive confusing yes

Hi Everyone & thanks so much for the replies! Sorry took a while to respond. So first off Dr says I am no doubt positive which is a huge relief! As for my symptoms- shortness of breath & chronic insomnia but treated babesia & got a lot better but breathing did not resolve. Fatigue & now bad moods almost depression is the newest symptom which I have never had before. Hard time building muscle/low muscle tone & poor appetite- temple headaches. Recently get blurry eyes when reading but improves on vitamins & new thumb twitching. I realize my symptoms fit lyme too & dr suspects it's still there & also suspects other bart species not just Quintana. Said 1:32 was on high side although considered neg on hensle. Yes Daxwell I did the triple draw! But the expensive part for pcr 3 day was negative. So I could have spent just $90 as opposed to 900 & gotten a posituve! Lol And Sara yes I have also since learned Pcr is much harder to detect. My dr has started me on rifampin and I felt better instantly! So while I have done a complete turn around this week after struggling for months I am now hearing from others that rifampin should be given in combo or possibly could cause resistance. I thought my doc was one of the best so should know his stuff. I know it takes 2 to cure bart but seems like he's just starting me on this until I see him in few weeks. Plus he may be cautious cause I have gotten c diff in past. I emailed him about this but have not yet heard back. Has anyone heard of being on this drug alone? There seems to be a lot of talk about this needing to be in combo but also seems more studies are needed. It's uncomfortable to have had to email my dr but can't risk it. Anyone know about rifampin alone causing resistance or heard of Lyme literates prescribing it alone? Thanks:))

Daxwell I felt same about Galaxy. Had big hopes in triple draw. While it is a lot more accurate than other pcrs - pcr like Sara says is very hard to detect. My dr also confirmed this. I had little hopes of the antibody serology but that is the one that showed. Please let us know how it goes. And yes I was off antibiotcs and also anti bacterial herbs for about 6 weeks before the test.

Also who is Dr S in Central Jersey? My dr is in the city. Do U hv to pm for doctors info? Just getting familiar w this site.

Sunny - I would send you an email with the Dr's info but your email is not turned on. I just sent in my blood from the triple draw. How long did it take for you to get results? My problem is that I had a skin biopsy done which checks the small nerve fibers and I have nerve damage. I have been on abx for almost two full years. I had 4 weeks of rocephin in Nov 2013 and 8 weeks in Nove/Dec 2014. I've been on 400mg doxy, doxy & rifampin, tindamax and doxy, 1200mg of amox, etc. Any bacteria in my body could be dead but I still have the burning/skin sensitivity (fibromyalgia) from the nerve damage. I just don't know if this is it, or I still have something to fight.
