" I spoke to one doctor already here who already almost laughed off the notion of Lyme disease, saying it non-existent in Nebraska."
That is just ignorant! Birds carry ticks over the state boarders. They are everywhere!
You may want to slow down with your running. My son feels terrible after he runs around. Sometimes he crawls because he can't walk. Stop running for a while and see if it helps. Working out can involve weight lifting, stretching, yoga etc. I do not know if the meds could have something to do with it. I would say it is likely a coincidence. Read new to Lyme... at the top of the page and start detoxing. I would bet you have lyme. Don't let it go, start detoxing, because toxins make you feel worse than Lyme disease. My 10 yr old son started to have grand mal seizures and motor skills problems among other things, and also some other type called psychogenic seizures which were triggered by pain and feeling ill. Although, my son did get worse from taking antiseazure meds! He only took 3-4 and we had to stop because he got very ill. Again, I don't know if it was the meds or if the meds just introduced more toxins that he had such a terrible response to them.
Every doctor we saw was useless when it comes to Lyme. The neuro at a children hospital sent him to see a psychiatrist. He is getting better with abx, so it was Lyme and bartonella all along. Poor kid, what he had to endure and the doctors suggested he is making it up! They did the same with my other daughters and to me! Regular tests through regular labs were negative for all my children. He had two abnormal EEGs and all docs kept telling me he has Epilepsia. I was the only one with a positive test through regular labs. I never had a rash and I never found a tick on me. My son tested positive through Igenex for Lyme and Bartonella but negative through regular labs, although he had the bulls eye rash.
You have the history (tick bite) and you have the symptoms. So I would say, it is very likely it is Lyme. I would not rule out Bartonella either. If you have severe psychological issues and muscle/sole pain, you may have Bartonella. Lyme rarely comes by itself. My son's seizures stopped WITHOUT meds since dec. 2014, and his motor skills improved after taking abx. Just if he runs around too much, he gets weak legs and can't walk, at night. All symptoms continue to improve.
