Herx or just sick??????

I think what you're experiencing is a mild herx from what I've learned from others here. And that's a GOOD thing... it means that all that detoxing you're doing is working! I'm sure how a herx manifests also depends on what antibiotics you're taking, where in your body the lyme is "hangin' out", and genetic factors that makes some folks have a harder time getting rid of the toxins....

Aly-- I don't know much about herxing so I can't really give you a good opinion (because I don't really experience herxes). I think I had one ONCE and I think I may have had one recently.

But I talked to Dr. H about this recently because I was worried that I don't "herx" like everybody else. He said that is ok, and not everybody herxes. Just wanted to let you know.

I guess everyone is just so different. When I went on Ceftin at first, I think I got a very mild fever for about an hour, and had a little nausea, but other than that there was nothing. It was so mild I still don't know if it was a herx.

Now a few days ago, after increasing my Bart meds last month, I had some intense nausea and vomiting one night. Now it's gone. So...maybe that was a herx? See, I'm not much help!

wildlyme - I felt so sick so I got nervous and just layed down to rest and continued to detox. I saw your other post about leg pain and I was actually having leg pain yesterday, it was weird and hurt alot! So, I feel somewhat of your pain!!!

Runnergirl82 - Thank you for always reassuring me about Dr. H!! He's a good guy and I feel comfortable under his care. I have to keep reminding myself that this is not a sprint, it's a marathon and Dr. H has been doing this for a LONG time with lots of success. :) Your N&V was probably a herx or the bart showing it's nasty self. I hope you feel better, get lots of rest! :)

Dancingbear* - I'm literally dragging myself at work right now. It's hard for me to keep my eyes open and also to concentrate on my computer screen. UGH! Quick question for you.. You're in Wisconsin right? Which doctor are you seeing if you don't mind me asking.

Also funny story off topic.. Before I went to see Dr. H in Wisconsin, my mom was like "Aly, don't go into that doctors office with your Chicago Bears clothes on. You know how much packers and bears fans hate eachother and this doctor might be a packers fan. Don't piss him off, you need his help!" (I'm a huge bears fan and anyone that knows the rivalry will understand). So, what's the first thing I see when I walk into Dr. H's office... A HUGE PACKERS SIGN. Ew. All jokes aside, I'm going to go to my last meeting with him (whenever that is) DECKED OUT in Chicago Bears attire. LOL!

Dancingbear...do you see the same doctor as Alyrose & I?

RunnerGirl, I see a different doctor in Milwaukee. He is not a LLMD, but I feel that he knows what he is doing and I feel like I am getting better. He is a Traditional Chinese Medical doctor. He can prescribe abx, but only does at the beginning of treatment. I did 10 weeks of abx, 3 different kinds, 1 at a time in the beginning, then he switched me to TCM treatment. At one point he was going to do abx IV if I did not start to improve, but thank God, I started to improve. I have the MTHFR mutation so after that was found and we started to treat that, I started slowly but surely improving.

It sure is taking a long time!!!!

Cool that we are all being treated in Wisconsin. I live in south eastern Wisconsin. I know Alyrose is in a Chicago suburb, what about your RunnerGirl?

Yep! Before I found out I had Lyme, I wasted 4 months with a "LLMD" in Park Ridge, IL. I saw him over the course of 4 months and even asked if he thought Lyme was making me sick and he repeatedly told me "you don't have Lyme". I paid way more to see him than my actual real LLMD in WI...and he had no clue. I can't believe he calls himself a LLMD. It was a terrible experience with him and I wish I could plaster his name all over the forums, but technically I can't say his name! But I can give clues!

That sure does suck. I have a similar story. After seeing many "regular doctors" that all told me I was fine and I would just have to live with my pain I found a Chiropractor that also practiced "functional medicine". I wasted so much time and money on that guy. He tried to get me to pay another $1200 after I left. I fought it and did not have to pay.

It is such a shame what all of us have had to go thru just to get treatment.

My Dad was just diagnosed with Lyme. What a bummer. So far he has been diagnosed with RA and Lupus. I have been hounding him to get the Lyme test. He finally did.
