do people have issues w/ dating w/ Lyme?

i guess what I am asking how does deal with those people who think this disease can be spread by being around others? including family and friends or who I thought were.

Hi helloq - Welcome to the forum.

I think maybe educating them that lyme disease isn't transmitted by casual contact, and just "being around others" with it.

In my experience, I haven't found friends/family concerned about that. I have had a friend who isn't there for me...has sorta 'dropped' me as a friend...I think because I'm not fun anymore...and I have limitations.

Are you experiencing people in your life thinking that they can catch lyme disease from you?

hi thx for your response yes I have family who has left me due to the my issues. and i find most women do not want to be social given they think it is Xferrable take care Girlie girl

Did your family leave because they feel they could catch it....or are they just impatient with you being unwell. This happens to many people - partly because many of us don't look sick...and also because lyme disease isn't recognized.
Do you have a Lyme support group near you that you could go to...to connect with people?

If you're dating, I wouldn't feel the need to tell the women on the first date. They don't need to know if you're just having a friendly dinner....of course if the relationship progresses, you definitely should tell them. Also, you wouldn't want to engage in sexual relations with someone not knowing.

It is suspected that it is sexually transmitted...so to be safe - we with lyme should be using protection.

yes some of my family left me bc it is a invisible disease and BOTH but I do not date but just like to be social... say hi i guess.... yes i have a therapist and i been told by my DR that is not sexually transmittable

I am handsome so people look at me and say YOU do not look sick so you must be a FRAUD but blood work and issues fatigue say much different.....

I believe I gave my husband lyme, we have the exact same bands positive with the exception he has one more but I've been showing symptoms for 16 yrs and he has only shown them for about 7.

dating the past 2 years has been a joke with this brain fog i feel like i cant connect with anyone or have interest 2 for dating it sucks alot

IT IS sexually transmittable... if i planned to be with someone... and even kissing someone (think body fluids,saliva,etc) ... i would be sure that the person is informed that i have Lyme...
i would encourage them to do research about it...before deciding if they want to be more than friends.
And then of course use protection... that's what i would do.

I got Lyme and Bart from meeting someone with lyme. And YES I swear on my life it happened. Be VERY careful of your tears!!! They could be contagious! And yes I'm serious about that as this is how I caught it!

If you have watery eyes or a tear comes out, best to use a tissue or at least the inside of your shirt and NOT your finger! Or wash your hands after touching your tears or bodily fluids!
