Does this sound like Lyme?

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what's going on. I started getting these crazy symptoms and now i'm wondering if it could be Lyme. about 3.5 months ago, I had my wisdom teeth removed. As a precaution, I was put on a 10 day cycle of amoxicillin. about a week after surgery, I started experiencing night sweats and I noticed the lymph nodes in my neck were slightly swollen. After about a week, the night sweats stopped. Then I noticed the top of my right foot felt semi numb which then started to spread. Below are my current symptoms:

Tingling, buzzing, burning, prickling in legs, arms, back, and neck. It started in my legs and moved up.
Chills/shivering (get goosebumps very easily) but no fever.
Intermittent joint pain/stiffness. Comes and goes.

I've been back to the oral surgeon which showed no signs of any infection or anything wrong. Been to my primary, and two neurologists. Bloodwork, MRI's, and EMG's are coming back normal. After doing some googling, I am starting to question my initial Lyme results (western blot). I'm not exactly sure how to read it, but according to the results, the conclusion is negative. My Antibody IGM, Quant is showing Equivocal. And I only show positive for 41 IGG. So here are my questions:

Do these symptoms sound like Lyme?
Do the test results warrant a re-test?

Hopefully someone can help. Thanks!

PS: I don't go in the woods often but I do stay in a cottage surrounded by trees when visiting my parents in NJ.

Hi Tunaaa, I just responded to your other thread about finding a LLMD. My NYC doctor is integrative medicine so maybe they can help you if it isn't Lyme. Did all of your symptoms just start from the wisdom teeth surgery? That makes me think maybe it's not Lyme.

My friend has problems with her teeth and every time she gets abx, her joints stop hurting LOL She didn't put the 2 together until I asked her about the abx she was taking and they were all abx that also treat lyme. She didn't realized she had lyme, she thought her problems are RA, stress, etc

My son had the Bull's eye rash and his 2 lyme tests were negative through labcorp. His IGG Igenex test was + for lyme.

I'm back. I put off Lyme for a while but now I am leaning towards it again. Reason being, I recently read that Lyme can stay dormant and then get triggered/reactivated by a stress to the immune system such as trauma or surgery. I was also given IV steroids during surgery which further weakened my immune system. Furthermore, I recently tried a course of prednisone for my symptoms, and on the second day my symptoms got the worst ever since the onset so I had to discontinue. This was very strange because I never heard of prednisone making someone's nerve symptoms worse. Either it does nothing or it helps. So then I started thinking I definitely have some sort of infection. I didn't have many symptoms before surgery though. Just occasional bouts of shortness of breath which would last for days, then go away. Same with dizziness and fatigue. But I never thought much of it. Anyway, I am awaiting results from igenex. Will keep you all posted.

Hi Tunnaaa,

It sounds like you could have Lyme to me. I also wonder if you might have Babesia.

Great call on finding this forum and getting tested through IGENEX! Please let us know what you find out. Before I figured out I had Lyme, I used to have weird symptoms that would come and go. They would rotate. It made it hard to put the picture together-until everything exploded. Even then, I had a few theories before I figured out Lyme and Co. Way to go! I hope you get your answer.

Even with the Stony Brook test, you had positive bands...and the Igenex is screaming "positive".

Yes, don't wait - Schedule an appt. with a LLMD.
Did you already find one...or need help with that?

Well I got my results from my doc who isn't an LLMD but he does do the igenex. He wrote me a 3 week prescription for Omnicef. Opinions on this treatment? I am scared to death of any medication at this point. For some time I thought amoxicillin was causing my symptoms. If this doesn't do anything, maybe I will try the herbal route. I have an LLMD appointment in a couple weeks so hopefully she will give me her opinion on my results. I just don't understand how CDC keeps saying negative overall though! So frustrating.
