Hello everyone,

I'm currently diagnosed (1.5 years sick) with Lyme, confirmed rickettsia & mycoplasma and unconfirmed Babesia and Bartonella. I started taking Ciproxin and Rifampicin 5 weeks ago for suspected Bart and recently (1 week) developed more eczema and itching all over my body. I'm talking stomach, back, chest, shoulders, bum, legs, groin area...all over. Normally I have a bit of eczema which is under control until now. I also have pimples all over my chest area and on my back. I used to get around 4 years ago but it resolved itself.

I suspect I also have a candida infection as I get dandruff, thrush and a white tongue. Could the candida cause the eczema as well? Or could it be the medication? I can't get much help with this as all the docs do is hand out steroid creams including my LLMD. I just want to know if anyone else has this problem, and if you figured out what it was.

Yes, itching and eczema seems to me like a yeast/candida issue...you asked your LLMD?

Your LLMD will hand you a steroid cream??? shocked wow.

You need to read Pirouette's posts on treating yeast and fungal issues. She's had a rough time with it and has had to do a lot of research to figure it out.

Trav, I don't think steroid creams are as bad as taking steroids orally. I have a steroid shampoo for my psoriasis and my LLMD hasn't told me to stop using it.

I do realize that steroid creams aren't like taking them orally, just like there are times when they are prescribed for adrenal issues. I'm still a bit shocked though that a LLMD would prescribe it - unless it was a last resort thing.

I'm currently being treated for severe adrenal fatigue, but went out of my way to find the one and only doctor in my area that didn't use steroids to treat them with because of the warnings that the steroid manufacturers put on the steroids.

Again, I do believe that there are times that steroids should be used, I just believe it should be very limited for those that have or had Lyme. That's just my personal opinion though.

Yes, the itchy, "pimply" rashes sound like yeast/fungal overgrowth. It's not your typical pimple, often it's a watery substance inside? Red, raw, itchy skin… And I'm reading more and more that some psoriasis is really yeast/fungus.

What happens is the y/f just grows and grows and eventually starts growing out of your orifices (mouth, primarily but I also had it growing out of my nose, ears, eyes, bum…) And your skin gets irritated.

One really quick fix for the skin reactions is to bake a little in the sun. UV rays kill it instantly but unless you're stopping the growth internally, it's going to continue to grow and grow and grow.

As discussed in the threads traveler posted, I would try a systemic and local GI anti fungal and give it some time, implement a candida diet, increase detoxing quite a bit and see if you get any relief.

Also agree w/ traveler's caution about any topical steroids… MDs prescribe them because they "don't really know" what else to try. You can develop immunity to them but also, they can damage your tissues.

I'm not disputing anything that P said about Candida or fungal issues. Have you ruled out any kind of allergic reaction? I would recommend asking your doctor about your itching and rashes.

I'm going to call him now. I have about 1.5 weeks until my next appointment but I don't think I can hang on any longer :( I'm going to scratch my skin off! Thanks for your reply hun <3
