Think I have had Lyme for years

Many symptoms, after being very healthy for 35-40 years things started to get very bad about 10-12 years ago (I am 48). Looking for a LLMD in New York City or nearby who will take Medicaid. I am completely broke from not being able to work after years of a very successful career in magazines. I really want to get tested by Igenex as well with the full Lyme Panel. I am having terrible UTI pain right now that my gynecologist cannot figure out. It's migratory pain, just dreadful. I have tried everything but the only thing that seems to work is oxycodone, which I hate and do not want to take. Many inflammation and pain issues, neurological and depression, eyes are wonky and I no longer feel safe driving. I eat super well and walk 4-5 miles a day, sleep a lot - tho for the past few years I've needed sleep aids to be able to sleep And anxiety meds - please help. I am at the end of my rope. I've known for years something was wrong and have only now just figured out it is very likely Lyme. I have always been an avid walker and hiker and been in a lot of high infestation areas for Lyme. Ugh. I got a standard test a few years ago that came back negative and I never even realized how common that is or that a my symptoms add up to a likely Lyme diagnosis. What you need to do is find a LLMD (Lyme Literate MD) Only he/she can evaluate your history, symptoms, and tests to determine if you have lyme disease.
Your symptoms certainly are indicative of lyme disease.

I'm sorry Rebecca, I am really tired.

Just had to drive 1 and 1/2 hours to retrieve my lost dog, and etc. . . . .

Unfortunately, there is really no such thing as an LLMD who takes Medicaid. You may have to pursue other avenues, i.e. LLNDs (less expensive), or LL herbalists (certified herbalists). There are also herbal protocols you can do on your own, but you really need to know what you're doing.

Your UTI problem is most likely Interstitial Cystitis. For that, you need to take Elmiron, which unfortunately takes several months to work. You may need Lidocaine catheterizations.

Oxycodone is bad news. I wouldn't advise it. I would suggest Lyrica or Tramadol. Oxyxodone is highly addictive, and will wreak havoc with your already foggy brain, your sleep cycles, and your tummy. Instead, in addition to the Lyrica or Tramadol, I would start drinking ginger tea made from fresh ginger, along with taking filtered fish oil, and Curcumin (the latter is very important). My suggestion is that you wean yourself off the Oxycodone (don't do it all at once).

However, if you need to sleep, you need to sleep. I think sleep aids might be necessary, at least short term.

It sounds like Lyme. Lyme tests are extremely unreliable, which is why a visit to an LLMD would be best, unless you can find a doctor who can interpret Igenex tests for Lyme.

It's going to be very important for you to start detoxing. Read the first thread for info. about detoxing and about Lyme in general.

I'm sorry you're tired:) thanks for responding! I will start the ginger and all you suggest immediately. Oddly, I have been drawn to all of those treatments and gave been using them for a few months. Maybe my body knew what it needed? Lol. I haven't been on very much oxycodone so I think that won't be a problem.

There is an excellent LLMD there, but he's super expensive.

Most LLMDs are expensive.

Welcome to our forum... as you have already seen example of here...this is a great place for support,encouragement and hope. Please feel free to ask any/all questions... until you feel that you are on the right healing path.

I seem to remember Traveler sharing some info about programs that may help financially... unless she shows up here or someone else chimes in with details... i would suggest trying her e-mail... you can find her name on the list of threads...click it to go to her profile page...then click her e-mail. Just let her know that you are a new member on the forum.

She has been recovering from dental surgery recently, so keep that in mind. But i know that she will pass on whatever information that she may have, when she is able. It just takes a bit of patience sometimes when one of us is more ill or recovering. But we are all in this together and we all pay it forward as much as we can.

I hope this may help somehow.

Regaff- I had horrible side effects from short term use of anxiety meds, in particular benzos. I stopped them in January and had all sorts of w/d symptoms...horrid insomnia, weird body pains, anxiety (worse then before I took them), depression, etc. I'm over the worst of it now and just treating the lyme and doing much better. If you have any questions about the anxiety meds please message me. Hope you find some answers soon.
