Hi friends... Im back, just started taking amoxicillin and diflucan : Amox 2,000 mg a day, and Diflucan 150 mg every 72 hrs, anyone have experience with either? I am feeling dizzy and very tired, also very anxious...

I took Amoxicillin right before I found out that I had Lyme. It made me extremely tired, even more so than normal. I have heard that it does that to some people. I'm not sure if it is an allergy or herx reaction. I have heard both possibilities.

I have not tried Difulcan yet.

Ammox at high doses completely wipes you out. Tired, exhausted more like it. Also wipes out the infection though. I needed to push to 2000 mg per day. Not sure of your dosage.

Hi Tbohl, I did REALLY well with the amox/diflucan combo. It was in the beginning of my illness I took the combo. If it wasnt for me having babesia...I think the combo couldve knocked my lyme out! Thats how good I was feeling on it. Amox just doesnt treat babs though so therefore I couldnt heal from lyme :/
(S/Out to my infectious disease doc being so 'knowledgeable' btw about tickborne illnesses--Ha.. NOT)

The last time I took amox when I had gotten further into my illness (higher bacterial load developed by this time) I herxed my butt off. What day are you on of taking it Tbohl?


Also, its good your on that combo since amox is such a huge 'broad spectrum' anti-biotic....your covered with Diflucan because that is the 'broad-spectrum' anti-fungal so to speak. No yeasties for you! ;-)

I was on amox (technically augmentin) for a little over four months. It was rough, I was tired and listless, I herxed regularly and dealt with a bunch of weird symptoms that came and went. But it did get better. I took 1000mgs twice a day along with nystatin and plaquenil. Sometimes when it was too much and I wanted to give my stomach a rest, I took a break or a weekend off here and there. Remember to take plenty of probiotics to restore whatever the amox kills.

I am only a week into treatment with the amox, (treated with zithro, and doxy also a while a go) I think I need something to replenish my electrolytes for dizziness! Thanks guys, I was feeling better so hopefully the Amox clears up the lyme, only been sick for year.

somewhat related, but I am on my 4th full day of Minocycline after being on doxy for about a month; couldn't handle the nausea and vomiting from doxy, but I read one of the side effects of minocycline is dizziness, which is really becoming obvious....does anyone have any good information / advice for taking mino? to cut back on the dizziness (it's been one of my worst symptoms of lyme so far)
