I don't know about the Parasitolgy Center. I have not heard of it.
As for the Babesia tests, antibiotics can interfere with a PCR test. You are killing off or could kill off the actual organisms that the test is looking to find. However, antimicrobials might not interfere with a Babesia IGG and IGM test because they look for antibodies.
Cowden or other Babesia meds can likely cause you to produce antibodies, which might increase your chances of testing positive. Maybe, your doctor was referring to an IGG or IGM test. You should ask.
I'm not sure how this works if you have been on antibiotics or antimicrobials for a significant period. Basically, by taking some antimicrobials, you stir up the bugs to try to illicit a positive test through antibodies.
This is my understanding. I could be wrong. Check with your doc to be sure.
