Mono & Lyme

I thought I'd share and question. Two months ago I pulled a tick off me after being on roughly 24 hrs. Immediate muscle weakness in my legs. I go on doxy for 21 days, still have muscle weakness in legs that move from calves to quads.

Last week I had an awful sore throat and white spots. Got tested for mono. Today I find out I have mono ( no more sore throat after antibiotics).

According from what I've read people have had this happen, when it's active Lyme. I will be seeing a Lyme Literate whenever I can get in. Just thought this was weird.

Mono and EBV are the same thing. Mononucleosis is the disease, EBV is the virus that causes the disease. Just like HIV causes AIDS.

Anywho, it is important to differeniate between the titers of IgG and IgM which can tell specifically if it a past exposure or chronic on-going or an acute without past exposure.

Most people have mono in their life at least once, thus they have IgG forever in their bodies and will be picked up when tested for EBV antibodies.

It is unknown whether or not lyme reactivates EBV. It is known that HIV and hepatitis infected patients can have ebv reactivated.

The first thing my LLMD did before even testing me for lyme & co. is to test for high viral titers and/or reactivation. I tested high/reactivated titers for 4 or 5 viruses… It took over two months on high doses of antivirals to reduce symptoms. During this time, I got tested for lyme & co and only after we also reduced my yeast/fungal load did we start lyme & co. treatment.

Viruses and fungal infections overburden your immune system, which makes it nearly impossible for it to get an upper hand on the lyme & co. So, you might want to address the EVB first.

MOST people have EBV by the time they are an adult, but not everyone experiences symptoms or illness or has it reactivate. As Traveler mentioned, it is not uncommon for people whose bodies have been undermined by the lyme, start having issues w/ dormant viruses, or are simply more susceptible to new infections because your immune system is so overburdened. Additionally, the infected tick can have multiple microorganisms and can also infect you with them.
