IVIG therapy in chronic lyme?

Has anyone done this and seen any efficacy? This is what the neuros are unanimously recommending for my neuropathy symptoms and since I still don't have a confirmed LD diagnosis, this is the path they all want me to head down. I am curious if this is something others have tried or contemplated and if it could be a useful therapy in chronic LD regardless.

My sister is doing it once per month for neuropathy and I think she has Lyme and Co. She has way to many different symptoms to not just have it. She is really sick from it and pretty much bed ridden. I think I would get a Lyme diagnosis first before putting that in your body. But maybe with more info you can make a decision.

Also it is other people's blood they get it from, how well do they check it for Lyme and Co? I think they just check for HIV and hepatitis.

There are LLMD's who recommend IVIG - but I thought it was at the end of the treatment, or near the end.

If I were you, I would wait and ask the LLMD who is treating you about it first.

Thanks for the note. I just wish I had more confidence in the diagnosis to know which way to go. Either path could be the completely right or wrong path.

Have you had the lyme test done through Igenex?

If it were me, I would go with the IVIG while you are waiting to find out about the Lyme as you could have a dual diagnosis (i.e. it not being one or the other but both). I don't think it can hurt (other than cause a herx if you have lyme and herxes are no fun!) and it can only help, if it does anything. I have an IgG subclass deficiency and lyme and if my insurance covered IVIG (it can be 10,000 dollars a treatment) then I would try it and see if I had any benefit at all from it.
