Hi guys,
I am brand new here and also brand new to Lyme, only diagnosed yesterday and admittedly pretty terrified.
i am currently on 3 weeks of Doxycycline but that is the extend of treatment recommended to me by a doctor, so I would really love to find a specialist in my area. Please email me with your recommendations.Thanks so much for your help.

So is this a recent infection?

When you have a moment , please take a look at the "New to Lyme?... Start Here!" thread at the top of the page.

It's full of good information including the section on detoxing.
It would be a good idea for you to start detoxing - using some of the ideas in the thread.

Effective detoxing will help alleviate the herx symptoms that occur when the die-off of bacteria floods your system.

I hope you continue to read and post - ask us any questions you have.

I know it is terrifying - but we will help you with this.

Yes, it is a new infection. I must've been bitten around 7/6 when we were camping in Pennsylvania.

I have noticed the rash on my leg right below the knee last Friday and since i have been also running fever with chills i went to check it out with my primary doc.

She said it was a bug bite with forming cellulitis. Gave me Cephalexin and told me that if it doesn't get a bit better within two days to go to emergency room. Which i did on Monday.

By then the rash formed a very definite bull's eye and since i also complained about my knee joint hurting the attending doc diagnosed me right away. Plus i developed a secondary rash on my breast.

I am on Doxycycline right now but nothing else and i really don't want to miss this small window i have to get rid of this disease before it's too late.

I appreciate any advice this community could give me.

Hi Joanna I'm on LI as well and can't recommend a good LLMD here but there a few within a few hours driving distance. Did they offer you a choice of doing IV Rocephin? A friend of mine caught it early like you and chose IV for three weeks and is totally cured now. The same with my chiropractor who went out east to see a woman doc who I think is affiliated with Stony brook but I can't recall her name. If you need some names of LLMDs I'd be happy to give you a few.

Thanks so much! I was not offered any alternatives to Doxy, I guess that is their standard treatment option at first. I am planning to call my general doctor and ask if there is a stronger treatment available, but I doubt they will go for that.

I would absolutely love to get a couple of names from you, my email is enabled. I appreciate your help, thank you so much.
