It really varies among individuals and how well you respond. Try orals first, it takes time for an LLMD to hit on the right combination that works for you. After 6 or so months then decide if IV is really needed. Some also do OK with IM injections.

okay sorry i have another question.. i was told that the fleas can carry bartonella. im currently on ceftin... will ceftin take care of bartonella as well? i have no idea. 6 months seems a long time to wait for getting better. after how many weeks of antibiotics until an improvement will be noticed?!

Hi fn,
I do not think that ceftin treats bartonella. Fyi - I had lyme for years and all I needed was orals + I did herbs and that helped a lot. I was on ceftin and it was a great drug for me. You might want to look into some herbals for bartonella so you aren't on so many antibiotics at once.

I've had it for 15 yrs and been on oral ANX since December plus taking A-L Complex and a lot of my symptoms are gone and I feel so much better.

Thanks for starting this thread, fn. I had the same questions. It's so great to read that many folks on this forum really responded well to treatment.

How do we know exactly what stage we are at? Do neuro symptoms mean late stage?

I think this article makes it pretty clear:

I'm pretty sure I'm at Disseminated Lyme! Is this where most of us are??

That's where any of the 'older' members (by date joined) are. Those with early Lyme come and go through here pretty quickly since they usually heal quickly and well once they get on the proper treatments. So anyone that has been here a while likely has chronic Lyme, along with a host of other infections.
