I am into my first week of Doxycycline and three days ago I started developing persistent cough throught the day but also at night. I also have to constantly clear my throat and do have mucus. Could it be Doxy irritating it? I do take it with food and do not lie down after.
My Lyme symptoms started with high fever, chills, sweating, so I am thinking I might have Babesia, but I am still in the process of setting an appointment with LLMD.
In the meantime, is there anything I can do to relieve my symptoms or protect my asophagus? Any herbal remedies to keep Babesia at bay till I see the doctor?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you take it with a lot of water....not just a few sips to get it down...
Drink a whole glass full...
You can do Buhner's herbs for Babesia...
Here's the link to his website:

The protocol is on the left hand side of the home page. If you choose to do it, make sure you get the herbs from the recommended sources...
So, you would be on Cryptolepis, Sida Acuta, and Alchornea choridifolia (I know i spelled the third one wrong)
You should buy each one separately, even though they come together in one tincture because if you go on it, you will want to start each herb one at a time at a low dose.

Yes, it is possible. I had very strong allergy like symptoms when I first started antibiotics (when I didn't know I had lyme) coughing, sneezing etc. etc. Before I knew what was going on I would take...I can't remember I think I used zyrtec? and it relieved those symptoms. Little did I know that it was a herx reaction and that can be allieved using allergy medication.
I don't recommend taking medication for allergies long term with lyme because it inhibits your immune system but it is worth a shot to see if it helps. Call your doctor and see what they think. I ended up taking allergy medication with antibiotics for...the first 3 weeks about
.
I would recommend a probiotic to be taken away from your antibiotics too.

You already know to take it with a large glass of water and to not lay down for at least an hour after taking it...
You could ask your doctor for a stomach protector like pantoprazole. I need to take it, no way out.
Also, when I had IV Doxy, I would cough for about
1,5hrs after administration. I didn't have that when I took it orally though...
just my 2 cents...

Mycoplasma, a very common co-infection can cause coughing - and the Doxy may just be treating it. I'm not finding the treatment according to ILADS standards very quickly, so I can't confirm it, but I do know that often during the course of treating Lyme. Bartonella, and Babesia, some of the other infections such as mycoplasma, H.pylori, anaplasmosis, and ehrlichia are treated.
So if this is the case, you need to detox, detox, detox!

Following Dr Berghoff's treatment protocols (a German well-known LLMD), Doxy is one of the abx that are used to treat Mycoplasma. See page 36 of this document.
