Question for friend that has chronic Lyme

Talking to a friend at work that got Lyme about 5 years ago. It's been 18 months since he's done anything about it and the primary complaint is numbness/tingling in his knees down to his toes. It's always there just differs in severity and of late its gotten worse so he's looking for answers. He's seeing an LLMD in NJ but the guy doesn't sound very good.

I read a 2011 study recently that Tindamax is not only effective as a cyst buster but also to kill spirochetes and by design (but not proven) is probably also effective against the L-Form. He wants to try to pulse Tindamax for a week (1 pill 2x a day M,W,F) which I can provide him to see if it has any results and use that to help educate his current LLMD on treatment. He's also looking into going to a different LLMD but it can take months for a new patient to get an appointment.

Note he's never gotten tests for co-infections so who knows what else could be happening.

Is this a good short term approach? What advice could one give so he can work with his doctor on a treatment plan? Thanks!

His doctor basically said the nerve damage is probably permanent if it hasn't gone away by now. This and the fact he's not being treated to being symptom free threw up the red flags for me. I also never heard of his doctor which doesn't mean he's not good but all the indications are he's semi-literate and not worth staying with.

He's not doing anything to heal nerve damage.

He should avoid gluten and dairy. Gluten is known to cause peripheral neuropathy in some who are sensitive, and Lyme is known to trigger gluten sensitivity.
