Laser Treatment - Can It Produce A Massive Herxheimer ?

Last week, I went to a physical therapist who my family has known since the 1980s ... He is a chiropractor by trade, and was the first person I ever knew of that used applied kinesiology ( muscle testing ) - back in the 1980s ....

I called him because I saw he was using a K Laser - this is NOT the cold laser, but a Class IV laser which, from what he told me, gets a lot deeper into the tissue ..

After the first treament last week, I felt good the remainder of the day, and then back to the usual pain ...

So today, we had another session, and this time he used it for a longer period of time

about 3 hours later, I felt as if I'd been injected with bleach ... and now, the pain and irritability are thru the roof ... ugggh

Now, I was only trying this for pain relief .... but could this laser induce some type of herxheimer reaction ?

I will call him on Fri ( the next day he is open ) ...... But I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced something similar with laser treatment ( cold laser or mega laser lol )

I'm not sure I understand what the laser is and what it's supposed to do, but if it affects tissues as you say, then YES!! It could stir up the infection, which likes to burrow into tissues (the spirochete or "spiral" form).

Lyme just changes everything… I can't tell you how many otherwise harmless things I've tried gave me weird, very rare reactions. Always proceed with caution! ;)

I use to see a chiro that did alternative treatments using an Erchonia cold laser device. He Brimhall trained and was more holistic in his practice. He also did muscle testing. He also helped keep my back in shape thru some of my worse two years of treatment.

I went thru many treatments using frequencies for Lyme, Bat and Babs similar to a rife machine. He never claimed the device could cure Lyme and co, and preached that parma Rx and herbals are also needed.

He also treated me with frequencies for pain, lymph drainage, detox and meridian balance. I never got any benefit from Pain settings, but the rest may have helped with detox.

I also received 30 minute detox footbaths.

I don't see him that often anymore except for an occasional back alignment.

Its Cold Laser is the same technology, class IV is just stronger for deeper penetration. They work at the cellular level using photon energy. There was a LLMD in Germany using a similar technology to "cure" lyme. Several folks in a another forum went for a 3 to 4 wks if treatment, and purchased the machine to continue Tx stateside.

Sarah, the just is still out in regards to the benefits ..... I have my doubts with anything that causes such a immediate bad reaction ( even though the first treatment last week was OK )

It is easy to chalk everything up to a herx or detox reaction - I am just wondering if the laser simply overstimulated already sensitive nerves

One thing I am absolutely convinced of - the Chinese Medicine Meridian Charts - when the doc put the laser over my jaw ( near my ear ), and then about 2 inches down my neck, I felt a nauseating warmth in my abdomen / stomach area, and then on top of my thigh ( and the thigh is an area of great pain for me ) - all this and he never used the laser anywhere but my jaw and 2 in down the side of my neck ...

That spot near my ear / jaw has felt like ground zero of my symptoms for years now - there is a small cyst / lump there, and when I move my jaw around, I feel sensations in my shin and foot ...

It is crazy

But I am not sold on the laser helping .... the next few days will tell more
