Antibiotic that works the best??

My LLMD is fluent in the naturopathic and other ways to treat lyme, but isn't 100% sure on which antibiotics to choose. He refereed me to someone else to get that info, though I thought someone on this forum might know as it would be a month before I could get in to the other person. He says he wants to start me off slow to make sure I'm not too sensitive to them or something.

What is a good starting point for antibioitics as far as brand and dosage go?.. It's a little odd I'm having to do this research but he is a really good doctor otherwise. I'll be doing herbal treatment and vitamin c / ozone infusions with the antibiotics.

If anyone has this information I would appreciate the help. Still very lost.

You could start with one of the tetracyclines - either doxycycline or minocycline....they are often paired with other antibiotics when you add a second one in to the protocol.

Another good one is Ceftin - or Omnicef.

Doxycline - 200 mg twice daily (400 mg total) - some Dr.'s are doing up to 600 mg daily.

Minocycline - 100 mg twice daily (200 mg total)

Ceftin -500 mg twice daily (1000 mg total)

Thank you both.

He suggested doxy for 30 days, but I've heard I have to pair it with something else as well. I read the paper traveler posted, and I am still very confused.

If I were taking Doxy, what would be a safe antibiotic to pair it with, and would I want to slowly start and take the other one a month later or...?

This is where its really difficult for me. I need an actual regimen, though I am the one creating it for myself. He said he will prescribe whatever will work, though because he focuses on naturopathic healing, I can't be sure its the right thing.

Any more advice would be appreciated greatly. I'm so freaking done feeling like this I just want to get started.

Well, because I'm always so full of questions (LOL!), why are you seeing a Naturopath and seeking treatments that he is unfamiliar with? There are some very good herbal treatments that you could use.

And there's really no way to know what will work best for you as far as any of these treatments go - you have to start somewhere and keep adjusting until you find what works best for you. This is why it's best to be using the things that your doctor is familiar with - they can help in with these decisions.

If you're seeing someone who is familiar with antibiotic protocols for lyme in a month...you could just do the herbals for now...until you see him/her.

Also, if you do start on an antibiotic now...it's fine to be on the one for a few weeks until you see the other Dr. - who can add a second one to it...or switch your first one...

The only LLMD's in my entire state are naturopathic. I'm not even sure that the next one will know anything about antibiotics either, but there arent many directions I can head. Maybe just start the doxy and aggressive herbs then? Idk... Ugh.

FYI - Doxy is paired with zithromax...or biaxin...

You can also just start with Buhner's protocols. He claims that 75% of those that follow his protocols will heal.
