Hi - I am based in the UK and I have been diagnosed with lyme and I am looking at treatment options (my knowledge is v limited). I am seriously considering Dr J in DC but I am a bit worried about potential effects of aggressive long term antibiotics and also what to expect through treatment. I don't have medical support here apart from A&E and I also don't want to take pain/sleep meds. Please feel free to PM me. Many thanks

I am currently seeing him. So far I am very pleased. He and his staff are very busy so keep this in mind when/if you go.

Yes, his abx treatments are aggressive but he pulses so you are off all drugs 33% of the time. You also do labs every (3) weeks to check your functions. No matter who you see, if they practice conventional medicine you will probably be on a somewhat aggressive long-term protocol...

Thanks for your reply. It is good to know that you are happy with the clinic. Is it normal to feel quite ill during treatment. I am only concerned in case I need additional medical support - my GP is not supporting me.

Some can feel quite ill during the beginning stages of their treatments. It would be best if you can find a doctor that will help support you, whether they agree with your treatment choices or not. Many times we have found that Naturopathic doctors are more understanding.

Which is actually kind of funny - many have numerous practitioners all the time - a Dermatologist, a G.P., a Chiro, a Neuro, and so on.

It's fairly recent that Lyme patients have started using not only a LLMD but a LLND as well to get two different sets of eyes on their case as well as different thoughts on medicine.

Yes, I have a few practitioners but they have always been very careful not to step on each others toes. It is good to know that many have 2 different practitioners with different approaches addressing lyme. Thanks

Any suggestions of where to stay while being treated at the Hansa Clinic in Kansas? Is it safe?

How integrative is Dr. J? Does he look at heavy metals, parasites, methylation cycle, etc.?

Buttercup and kyo07, The Dr. J that Kat101 was referring to is in Washington DC. He is a different Dr. J than the one you guys are referencing in Wichita KS. I haven't been to either Dr. J, so I have no input either way but just thought I'd clear that up.
