In his autobiographical book, Gone in a Heartbeat, Spector recounts how he developed severe heart failure and required a heart transplant, almost certainly due to undiagnosed and untreated Lyme disease. Why undiagnosed? Because we have extraordinarily poor diagnostic tests, as I noted before, and because the IDSA guidelines require specific Western Blot test abnormalities to declare a case confirmed…and Spector’s blood did not show enough of these abnormalities. Scary stuff, really. I'm convinced-now- that the stent that was placed in my heart artery in 2011 is the result of lyme and co. and is giving me an indication how long these critters have actually been wreaking havoc in my body. Fingers crossed that the Buhner protocol can help get my health back to what it should be. Thx for the share.

This is an awesome book - he writes poetry in it too - even a good read for people without Lyme. And too bad he's not a clinician anymore, we could use him out here, sounds like the doctor we all want!. You can get this on Amazon download for 6$.

Some cardiologists are slowly coming on board but even those may refuse to acknowledge beyond basic block issues-these bugs don't always present block. (Had first hand experience with this recently, as E/R doc said "No can't possibly be Lyme, no block". Bart acting up, severe chest pains, spiking resting B/P, etc..."Nope"..sigh..).

Bart is also famous for chewing up and inflaming heart valves, and cardiac tests/treadmill can show nada. Three cadiac E/r visits in 18 mos - yep, living with the joy of this now (she says as tachycardia is hitting).
