Hi Traveler. Actually it works! I believe it does work based on my change of symptoms on the way I treat. I had tiny herxes from Lyme in the beginning and then was Lyme symptom free.
I can tell the difference in Lyme symptoms and bartonella symptoms based on how I treat it.
I think people underestimate the bacteriostatic powers of minocycline and even bacteriaciidal properties(during lyme growth). It is 2.85 times more lipid soluble than doxycycline is getting into tissues that much better and getting inside the germ that much better too. If doxy dose is recommended at 2.5 mg/lb body weight that would mean I need 357.5 mg/day of doxy to treat Lyme. So that works out to be 125 mg minocycline/day when you think of lipid solubility. Pulsing it encourages them to reproduce. Or leave and move out of cells if they are hiding there too. I too thought it was too low a dose but I was interested in trying anyways. I figured there is no harm in trying really. I'm still close to 100% symptom free. Also I think going off the abx for a day lets my immune system work at the infection too. My Bart came back ever so mildly but evident. I was Bart symptom free for awhile and thought it was treated! I get the vascular rashes on my feet, and some foot/shin pain. But I don't have the anxiety insomnia or brain fog that I had back in December-March. I really don't feel like I've lost any progress in recovery by doing this, only gained the knowledge, experience of a new treatment that is overall more easily tolerated for me.
