Hi everyone: I have been experiencing very sharp, stabbing head pain on either side of my head, not the temples but on the top of my head. Fluctuates from one side one day, other side a day or two later. Very severe stabbing pain but only lasts for a matter of seconds..thank goodness. Anyone have this and know what is causing it? Thanks so much.

I have it time to time along with really bad pressure in my head. Its usually localized on the top. Only last for a few seconds (the sharp pain)..

This could be the start of trigeminal neuralgia, my husband's had it for years from lyme. Hopefully not but if it persists, see a neurosurgeon.
Good luck,
Miss

Yes, I've had that and was told that it was neuralgia and that it is generally harmless. Now at the time, I didn't know I had Lyme! So I don't know if it would still be considered harmless or not. Luckily, I haven't had it in a long time. It is VERY disconcerting! I was really worried because it would literally stop me in my tracks. I always took an NSAID and that seemed to do the trick. Hope it goes away for you!

Yes, it absolutely stops you in your tracks. Did it go away for you only after treatment for Lyme Disease? Thanks~

I'm having the same issue today except my sharp pain comes and goes from my left temple area. It really freaks me out anytime I get this. I'm guessing it's just another side effect of LD considering it's never happened before I had it. it really freaks me out anytime I get this. It makes me think of and aneurysm. I guess that's probably just anxiety talking again.

Yup me too. When it first started happening I would get so scared. Thought it was really serious , aneurysm came to mind too! Had a MRI and cat scan, normal. Two neurologists later I'm told its stress. Still happens, not every day. I blame it on Lyme. The pain is a very quick sharp stabbing pain. Still bothersome though.
