I saw the internist again last week. He was dismissive of my Igenex tests but sent me for a second (Canadian/OHIP) Lyme test.

I also complained about fluttering pain and tightness in my chest, right around where my heart is. He's getting me a test for this, starts with an H I think, it's a harness I wear for 48 hours.

I'd like to know all your thoughts re: heart function and Lyme.

Is it a Holter monitor?

I've been reading a lot lately about bartonella also affecting the heart - and the blood vessels.

What does OHIP stand for?
The chance of the Canadian test showing a positive is slim - and even if you test positive, you will be prescribed a couple weeks of antibiotics at a dose too low to kill the bacteria, unfortunately.

Probably a holter as girlie says. If they find any cardiac problems they'll obviously zero in and treat for that. It's good tho that you'll get a lyme test to see if it is the cause of your difficulties. Re: heart function and lyme: I had heart problems (angina) in 2011 and got a stent placed; my cardiologist basically said too much plaque build up and so I never really attributed it to anything other than my high cholesterol. It's not until I was clinically diagnosed with lyme this past summer that I now have my doubts as to the cause and I'm convinced the 'critters' are it. I had a heck of a lot of anxiety then too, not normal anxiety, on looking back. I'm actually just wrapping my head around this right now! I've been on the Buhner protocol since then and one of my herx symptoms is a strange feeling heart (not angina, tho). I feel like I'm on the right path right now and seems like I have to take matters into my own hands. If I mentioned lyme to my cardiologist he would probably look at me like I was crazy, so I'm not going there!

The internist being dismissive of the Igx, yet doing another, perhaps less sensitive test does not add up. Is your doctor ILADS endorsed? Did your Igx test show Lyme specific bands?

And Bart does seem to be a culprit with the heart. If you were to have additional testing specific to this, it sounds like the U.S. Galaxy lab is on the pulse, so to speak.

I mentioned elsewhere, prompted by another poster here, but a great book I just finished reading, "Gone in a Heartbeat" i would recommend to anyone going through odd symptoms & heart problems. It is a memoir written by a doc, an oncologist who became a very sick heart patient, searching for answers.

This doctor turned patient knew somethimg was wrong that conventional medicine was not finding. His hunch kept bringing him back to LD, but several Lyme tests came back negative. He later did find he had Lyme.
