Thank you so very much for your kind words!! I'm so happy that I have been of help to you! And believe me, both Heather's Dad (I know him) and I completely understand that you have been a bit busy with survival and haven't been thinking of who to thank yet!!
And I have to respectfully disagree with that blog post. There are many, many scientific papers that completely describe Borrelia Burdorferi as a spirochete, which is most definitely a bacteria, albeit a nasty one - not a parasite.
I believe this confusion is not intentionally put forth, but occur because it (the Lyme bacteria) is sometimes described in this way:
"a genus of gram-negative, aerobic, spirochete bacteria that are parasites on mucous membranes and cause borreliosis and other conditions. B. burgdor´feri, transmitted by ixodid ticks, is the cause of acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans, erythema chronicum migrans, and lyme disease. "
medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Borrelia When in reality, this is what is being shown in scientific articles:
"Ticks are important vectors of human and animal pathogens of viral, bacterial and protozoan nature worldwide. Lyme borreliosis (LB) is the most widely spread and most frequent tick-borne bacterial disease in Europe with an estimated 65,500 human cases annually."
www.parasitesandvectors.com/content/6/1/202 "Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by Borrelia burgdorferi, an elongated, spiral-shaped bacteria transmitted to humans through the bite of a tick. Known as spirochetes, these bacteria are unusual, not well studied, elusive and difficult to cultivate in the laboratory, and capable of advanced survival activities more commonly found in larger, more intelligent organisms."
www.publichealthalert.org/parasites-and-worms-the-new-lyme-disease-co-infection.html "Although spirochetes are not a large group -- there are only six genera -- they have had tremendous impact on our lives. Both syphilis and Lyme disease are caused by these bacteria..."
