I'm committed to the "whatever I can manage to eat without getting sick as balls" diet. Have I found success? Well, in that I don't get terribly sick, as soon as the food hits my stomach, yeah. Has it completely alleviated gastrointestinal symptoms? No. Honestly, I think I still react to some of it, but, being so limited, I eat it anyway. I'm tired of being skin and bones. I got down to 120 lbs as a 23 year old male, which is terrible.
Anyway, yeah, try the diet out, or diets, considering you ever wanna weigh your options, and see how you feel.
But, really though, I'd go with, to keep it simple, a healthy, balanced diet, consisting of foods that aren't a problem for you, for whatever the reason (Lyme/co, candida, etc).
Sure, some of the foods that make up the diet may be really good for you, even with healing qualities, but, at the same time, you might be forced to cut out things that otherwise wouldn't be a problem, also very good for you. I'm really not sure - I've heard of the GAPS diet, even considered, but I've forgotten what it's got you eating.
Dunno. Hope you figure something out, and that it leads to good news.
edit: Just looked it up to refresh! If you can handle those foods, liquids, then, by all means, have at it! Though, there are some worrisome items - tomatoes, cheese, beef, certain nuts, alcohol, and TONS of sugar. I may have missed a few, but some of us definitely have problems with those. The sugar, not only because it could feed/give rise to a candida problem, but also, not sure if it being sugar from fruit makes a difference, but the bacteria love sugar.
Also, there was a post recently about
blood type diets - I'd look into that, if anything. Though, sadly, there seems to be conflicting information. I've seen some items listed as "good" that got pegged as damaging elsewhere.
Again, I'd just go with what feels healthy to you. Find by trial and error.
Sorry if this response is a mess - not up to caring much about
appearances.
