I'm curious if others know why to use one herbal protocol over another? I'm on Cowden and considering herbs for my kids but wondering is another protocol (and possibly less expensive) herbal protocol would also be effective?

If you are up to making your own tinctures/infusions, Buhner's recommended herbs can be bought in bulk from several suppliers that he recommends in his books.

You'd really need to buy his books for instructions but making your own herbal preparations is the least expensive.

We each need to find what works for us and our healing. There's no one protocol that's better than another.

The Cowden protocol is $285 monthly....and is neatly packaged and shipped by Nutramedix.

Meanwhile, the Buhner protocol require you to utilize online suppliers. The basic lyme protocol ( consisting of a few herbals) probably cost less than a hundred a month. If you purchase additional items for various co-infections you could probably spend another hundred.

That being said, the Buhner protocol seems to give you much more bang for the buck. In comparison of the medicine ingested on the 2 protocols, the Cowden is a fraction of the Buhner. Maybe it's just me but with the Buhner dosages I can tell something is entering my bloodstream while the Cowden seems "watered" down.

But, in all fairness I read about people having trouble working up to 30 drops of Samento, so obviously they are getting alot more reaction than I am.

I'm actually in month 4 of Cowden myself and yes, it is $285/mo. I'm not having much (if any) herxing so Cowden protocol is either really helping me detox effectively...or perhaps not working.

I just feel so much pressure with this decision for my kids...still just trying to weigh abx side effects, logistics of getting kids to follow herbal protocol and the expense of it all! shakehead

That thread had a new post today. A mom who unknowingly had Lyme when she got pregnant. She has years of experience treating her own children and it certainly seems like she wants to pay the knowledge she gained from members forward. I'm sure if you post she will help in any way possible.

B777- there is a post started this evening asking for info on the Cowden protocol. If you can respond that would be wonderful.
