I still pay a few of my bills by mail....one being our hydro .

In August I paid it, and a few weeks later, it came back...with a note...I need to sign the cheque. I had a little chuckle and sent it back.

Today, got the mail, hydro bill in there...hmmm already? I just paid one..lol.
opened it up...and they sent my cheque back - I hadn't signed it the second time...


I'm laughing...beats crying...right?

LOL!! Thank you for the laugh.

I tried to close the garage door with my cell phone. I pushed and pushed te talk button and the door would not close.

I have audio controls on my steering wheel. I got in the car and the air conditioning was on full blast. I pushed and pushed on the volume control trying to get the air conditioner to lower the fan.

I do one heck of a lot of laughing at myself. I obviously have a button problem.

I agree, it totally beats crying!!

oh no, happyjo - driving away with the gas hose attached would be embarrassing.

I spent 10 minutes trying to work out why the key wouldn't open the padlock on my gate. Of course it wasn't the padlock key, was it. Dumbest thing was on closer inspection, the padlock wasn't actually locked, was it.

That earned me my 'dumb arse' girl scouts badge with distinction, that did. I shall no doubt feel compelled to wear it with pride...upside down and on the inside of my t-shirt ;)

These stories are hilarious and I can very much relate.

Thing is - my brain fog misadventures happened when my thyroid was really low.

Stuff like putting my purse in the fridge instead of the cabinet next to the fridge where I normally keep it....mailing the piano teacher's check as my mortgage payment....burning cookies was quite common because I'd totally space out and forget I was baking. Give me time, I can come up with more.

This is why Lyme is called the Great Imitator.

Ok I've got one. My mom was at my house for the holidays. I was setting out a cheese platter. I looked in the drawer and couldn't find the cheese slicer. I picked up this 'strange looking tool' and said, "well I don't remember what this is, but it will work". And so I began to slice the cheese with this kitchen tool. My mother didn't say anything because the one she has looks nothing like this European- handled one. It wasn't till much later it registered,"did I just peel cheese with a potato peeler?"

OHhhh!! The stories I could tell on myself!!! LOL! I would find odd things like my purse or dry cereal in my freezer - then I wondered what I had put somewhere other than the freezer - I found out a few days later a couple of times by following the smell....

And not having any clue what tool to use in the kitchen, was normal stuff for me too. Names? You mean they each have their own name and it doesn't include the use of "doo-hicky", "thing-a-ma-bob", or "what-cha-ma-call it"????? Interesting!!

And yes, it's good therapy to laugh at our mistakes like this!! I have a saying hanging on the wall directly above my computer screen - "Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves for we shall never cease to be amused" turn

Lol! I love these stories. It's fun and comforting. My family gets very worried. But I just shake it off. The fog often clears.

Oh and I cannot tell you how many times I leave the house, drive out of the driveway and have to look at my feet to see if I took off my slippers and put on shoes.

I have totally given up on jewelry matching, just too much trouble.

The scariest one for me was it took my brain like 20 seconds to recognize my own brother. Now that I have a better understanding of my illness it doesn't scare me much anymore.

looked for my cell phone for about twenty minutes before i told my sister n law that I was talking to on it that I was about to go crazy b/c i didn't know where I could have put it!!!

Thank you all so much for the laughs. My husband and kids just shake their heads. It doesn't matter how many times I say it's not me, they just think I'm nuts.

I've bookmarked it so I can read it when I need a laugh. We all have times when our brain short circuits.

The one that I remember is putting down a breakfast plate in front of my then 5 yr old and told him to eat the refrigerator. Now he's 16 and we will be driving somewhere and he'll ask me if I know where we're going and usually the answer is no.

This forum is a wonderful place. Nobody here shakes their head when we do something completely stupid.

My latest got me in big trouble. My wife, bless her soul keeps me in line with my diet. Been having a ton of trouble sleeping again lately so of course a midnight snack was needed. With no wife to slap my patties, I found some chocolate peanut butter ice cream in the freezer, MY FAVORITE, couldn't resist. Had a few scoops, even washed the dishes I used to cover my tracks. It would have been the perfect crime

Wife woke up at 6am the next day shrieking from the kitchen. Came down to find chocolate peanut butter ice cream dripping out of the kitchen cabinet. I just replied, "how in the hell did that get there" and sheepishly started cleaning it up.

Needless to say, there is no more ice cream in the house until I'm better lol.
