I am going to hazard a guess on this.
I know Mepron is expensive.
The insurance plan I have sort of "insulates" me from insane prices for meds.
My cost for 90 days' worth of a generic med filled through the insurance mail order pharmacy is $30.00.
And, if I wanted a brand name med for which a generic is available, my cost for 90 days' worth would be $200.
I am aware of different types of insurance plans and some offer no prescript
ion coverage which obviously means highest cost paid by the patient.
Some plans have higher co-pays than mine and some have lower. Some plans have different categories for the various meds and co-pays are based upon that. Yet other plans have the patient paying something like 20% co-insurance on the cost of the Rx and there can be deductibles.
Maybe these types of things came into play with the various prices mentioned here on the forum...
