I was sent to an infectious diseases Doctor and I can't tell you what an ass he was. He dismissed my positive IGenex test along with the fact that I could even have Lyme.
He though that I could have fibromyalgia and left me with even more questions. He did go on about not trusting the lab or any doctors willing to put me on long term antibiotics.
I am at a complete loss.......

Sick5-I'm sorry you went through that. ID Dr's are notoriously anti Lyme. They always dismiss positive tests. Play the false positive card which is total crap. New reports have just come out stating long term abx's are needed. ID Dr's have taken a stand and pride or ignorance or both are keeping them there regardless of how many patients lives they harm.

You need to find an LLMD.

Sick5 I'm sorry you met this jerk. Move on and find a good one. It took me 3 before I found the one I needed. He is an LLMD.

Sorry you had to go through this, Sick5!

As pathetic as it sounds, I feel the same way about endocrinologists and thyroid care. I gave up on them as a profession to treat my thyroid because the 3 I met were clueless.

Knowing what I do about that specialty and what I've heard on here about ID doctors, I knew I wouldn't be spending any time in an ID doctor's office when looking for Lyme care.

LLMD's are the only way to go...

I agree with the others - you need a LL Dr.

You're in Eastern Canada? You can email me for names - I have a couple LLMD's and also some LLND's.

I wouldn't bother with ID Dr.'s.

Yes it was awful and I still am feeling the effects from the visit. Doctors are supposed to "do no harm" and that's exactly what they do.
I have a lot going on in my head and I'm in pain. I need to regroup and start looking for a doctor that will help.

I showed him my Igenex results and he dismissed them and told me I didn't have Lyme. Out of all the specialists I had seen, this was the one appt I had hoped would be fruitful, alas it wasn't mad

After that experience I sought help from my LLND, someone who knows what I'm going through and how to treat it. Trust me, when you see one you will feel better that you are in the right place. These ID drs know nothing and choose not to learn more. Just forget about them and move on.

dont let it get to you, i had 2 infectious disease doctors look at all my bloodwork my low CD57 counts my igenex results and tell me i didnt have lyme yet for 2 years doctors tested and scanned me for everything else and didnt understand what was wrong with me, it wasnt until i found an open minded therapist who referred me to a herbalist who told me about an LLMD thankfully which led me to this site, just keep looking and it will workout

if you want to have a bit of fun whenever you meet a doctor tell them you have lyme and you've been on antibiotics for months and watch their facial expressions. it's pretty funny what they don't say but you can read on their faces what they think. most doctors are lemmings cut out of the same medical school mold so one is not much different than the other.

And I've been told by my pain doctor that "doctors never agree with one another". I'm so done with being treated this way. It's unfair and discussing....
