Veins in legs/pain/possible clots?!

When I first became infected, my right leg was all screwed up. I would feel fleeting pains in the form of cramps, stabbing pains, burning, and a lot of twitching and numbness. This sometimes travelled to the left leg.

Before my Lyme diagnosis, I was obsessed with it being a clot, especially when I got the pain behind my knee that would last awhile. Or that deep stabbing pain that lasted a few days.

I still don't know what it was, but at that time, I developed a very visible surface vein that's bright blue on top of my thigh. Kind of on the outside. Doesn't look twisted, like a normal spider vein (which I have plenty of), and it actually aches!

That was all a year ago, and I have gotten pain in that vein off and on. However, I went to the ER for chest pain a week ago (since cleared, but it was present for a week!), and while sitting, my right leg started to act up right in that vein!!

I was there for 7 hours, and though I got up and changed positions, I can't help but worry about a clot. My leg has hurt mildly since then in random spots, and that was last Monday. Also, a bruise looking thing appeared close to that vein with flat red dots (looks like blood under skin).

But wait, it gets scarier! I went dirt bike riding on Sunday and didn't have very specific pain then (just random pains in legs like when I first got Lyme). After that, I woke up sore yesterday morning in all my muscles, but not my left leg. My right leg, however, has a very specific pain in the back of my thigh, a little above the outside back of my knee.

It feels deep, like it's in my veins, but I swore it was that the first time this happened and several ultrasounds and doctors proved that it wasn't a clot. However, astroman just got a clot this year, and I know that it's definitely possible!

It's just so hard to get the doctors to run tests for me since no one will believe me now. And to even mention Lyme makes it so much worse!

Please, if anyone has weird vein symptoms along with muscle cramps that they were sure were clots and ended up fine, please let me know!! I have an appointment with my doctor on Monday, but in the meantime, it's hard to walk on my leg. :(

I'm all too well acquainted with Deep Vein Thrombosis as it almost took my husband's life 8 yrs ago, and left him permanently disabled due to the severity of it for him. What you describe would be

Do you feel extra heat from that spot? Is there swelling or redness? Those are signs that you should watch for, but not be afraid of - they are warning signs, but varicose veins can cause pain and discomfort as well.

I think it's very good that you are getting it checked out, but I surely wouldn't bee too worried simply because it won't help anything to worry. If they do a scan, they can see if there is a clot or not very quickly and easily.

The clot I had in my lower leg made obvious swelling, it "ballooned". My leg muscle was very firm to the touch too. It was more of an ache than a pain, not sharp. It made my foot movement stiff too. I went on anti clotting meds for a while, and now take an asprin a day.

I've had sharp nerve pain, and deep muscle and tendon pain in my legs too - a complete different feeling.

There are a few reasons clots can form- or a combination of them I suppose. All my lipids / cloresterals are great, which can be an issue with some people.

An actual DVT is like its called, deep, not just under the surface, cant see them colorwise. Ultra sound confirmed it.

Time period on blood thinners and self-administered daily shots (many!)depends on symtom relief, only one week in my case.

I agree that it couldn't be DVT - that's what almost killed my hubby. You can't see a thing when it's DVT and that's why it can be so dangerous.

No word yet on your results, Cdavis?? I'm hoping for some good news!

I'm glad that your hubby and astroman are safe!! Blood clots and kidney problems are my biggest fears!
