I dropped my LLMD today after he spent five minutes berating me about "cherry picking" things to take to balance my hormones. He said just because I've read something on a forum doesn't mean I'm an MD and I won't get better if I don't take everything he says to take. He tries to sell me anywhere from $500-$1000 worth of supplements every visit. He's rubbed me the wrong way since the first day I've met him and today just confirms his complete arrogance and inability to communicate his treatment approach for my specific case. Although he's supposedly ILADS trained he knows nothing about proper treatment and I've received more help from this forum than I have from him.

Many other Lymies have confirmed they have issues w/ him, but he is the only LLMD in Houston. I hope others don't have to go through what I have w/ him.

Anyways, now I'm without a LLMD and hoping I can tackle this on my own. Feeling so completely frustrated.

Oh no! I'm so sorry, Sniogra!! I hate it when doctors try to insist that I buy only from them. My doc sells things too, but when I confronted her about it, she told me that it's only for patient's convenience, that I could buy what I needed from where ever I wished. She even told me on one supplement that although she carried it, she was sure I could find it less expensive elsewhere - and I did. Most of the time though, her prices are the same online.

I hope that you do just fine without him. Do you know if there are any "Lyme friendly" doc's in your area? They may be of some help for when you need some tests run.

Thanks traveler- yes he insists that I only buy from him and that all other supplements are trash. What amazes me is that he completely forgot what we had talked about at our last appt.... which was addressing my adrenals before trying to fix my hormones. I was making some improvement, and then he railed into me today for for not taking all the hormone supplements we had decided to hold off on.

If he can't remember or take notes over my condition I don't trust his thoughts on treating me for Lyme! Fortunately, I do have another internist who can run tests for me and is Lyme friendly. Thanks for the warm thoughts trav- so glad I can get support here!

I agree, that's not right at all. And the fact that he told you not to take some things and then got mad at you for not taking them at the next appt would be red flags for me for sure!! This is hard enough without the doctors changing their minds and not telling you!!

But, I bet that you can do this!! smilewinkgrin

When you are obviously more on the ball than the doctor you're seeing I would bet good money that you are better off without him!

You know you'll get tons of advice and support here, Sniogra, I am sure you are going to do just fine :)

I could travel to Louisiana if need be but I have been making some improvements on my herbal protocol. Trying to stay optimistic. Thanks all for the encouragement!!

But, since you are making some improvements on the herbal protocol, I say go for it!! Many heal on their own!! :-)

I hate dealing with doctors like that. The "God" personality is a real turn off.
When it comes to the field of LLMD's I think they know they are few and far between, so some take advantage.

I hope you are able to help yourself! If you like reading,the books "Healing Lyme"
and "Why cant I get better"were life savers for me!

I have treated myself mostly and posted about it on my blog if you want to check it out.
