I am not sure if this is Lyme related or not but I have extremely chapped lips and dry skin. It is CONSTANT! I have tried everything I can think of to help, but I am not having much luck. In shower lotion seems to help a little with the dry skin, but my lips are a mess. If anyone has any ideas of what I can dry, please feel free to tell me. I will try almost anything. Thank you.

I read coconut oil is great for skin/lips. I haven't tried it yet...but may soon, as my lips tend to get drier in the winter months.
Coconut oil is good for you.

I use a lot of coconut oil. The best buy is at Costco and it is organic.
I used to use Burt's Bees for my lips but my health food store discontinued it. Now I use Dr. Bonner's Naked and love it. Burt's Bees pomegranate gave my lips just a tad of red color.
I made homemade Frankincense and Myrrh Body Lotion. I got the recipe off of Dr. Axe's web site. Hubby loves Dr. Axe.

I swear by pure unrefinded sheabutter.
I have terrible skin, but can controll it with sheabutter, I have for many years now. Before that I tried steroid cream (not long), the expensive pharmacy creams and lotions, different oils.
It is literally like butter (texture and color): you can either hold it in the palm of your hand and let it melt before applying, or let it melt on the radiator.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will definitely look into those. My lips are a little bit better since I removed all of the dead skin with this sugar/lotion/chapstick mix I made and then I applied chapstick every once and a while until I went to bed. I also know that I really need to drink more water and less caffeine and that will make a huge difference. Thanks again for all of the replies!

I was just about
to add that you need to stay hydrated. My lips start to dry up and peel off when I'm dehydrated

I have had the same thing and I started drinking a gallon of water per day. I keep it room temperature. The first thing I do when I wake up is drink 20 ounces. I did build up to the gallon per day. I notice in the morning my lips are dry but by end of day it is better. I think a good probiotic at night really helps as well.

You know what works for me - Vitamin D. It is very important for skin health, and most lymies are vitamin D deficient. I do not believe it is the lyme causing it, however, I do think Bartonella has a dry skin symptom on the list......In the winter, especially, my fingers crack and my hands feel like sandpaper, and my lips get so chapped. I always had this problem until I had lyme - bc my doctor told me to take more vitamin D and that's what helped! No matter how much aquaphor or vaseline I used, the problem just wouldn't go away. Maybe it will work for you, if you haven't tried it already. Do you know your vit D levels?

Chapelle: I am Vitamin D deficient so that could be the problem, I also have Bartonella (my doctor thinks that is my main infection), so everything you are saying makes sense. I just started taking Vitamin D again (I had to take a break because of a posible reaction) so hopefully that will start to help.
I started using a humidifier at night and it seems to be helping. I also got some in shower lotion for my skin to see if that helps. Hopefully the Vitamin D will help soon too.
Thanks for all of the suggestions.

so you are deficient - i would bet it will definitely help! what dose are you taking? that's important! I was on 5000 IU Daily when I was deficient and now I am on 2000-3000 IU (except during the summer)

I forget what the dose is, but my doctor is going to recheck it after I have been on it for a little while, so I will know if I have to increase or decrease it.
