Crispie - what is the range? Is it supposed to be less than 6.0?

My husband's A1C test was out of range...I think in the mid 6's. The Dr. said to concentrate on diet and exercise and retest in a few months.

The standards have changed over the years - a much narrower window now.

It's not in your head. I don't think an ID Dr. is who you would see - wouldn't it be an Endocrinologist?
But, if he/she isn't Lyme Literate.....

The U.S must have different units of measurement.

Our range is high 4's to under 6 (fasting) (Canada)

My father had numbers in the double digits in the Care home - one of the highest ones was 22.

He also went into a coma when his number dropped to 2 - the hospital did that - changed his insulin and didn't administer it properly.

Fasting blood sugar 100 to 124 is pre-diabetic, over 125 is diabetic in US. Yes ac1 should be under 6.5.

Since you have lyme, ever had 24 saliva adrenal test?

Unbalanced adrenals can lead to high glucose in some people. Candida can raise glucose too.

After my adrenals got better, my Ac1 and glucose went down, I ate the same and exercised LESS. My endo almost fell out of his chair since he doesnt understand all this. I still check it on occasion.

I did vit C, and holy basil, after other herb trials. Holy basil itself can lower glucose in some people. It has calming energy too.

Oh no...sorry to hear, Crispie. As Traveler said, you will need to pay more attention to your diet. (But, i think you already know this)

Just a few thoughts on this subject. Was 53 when I was told my A1C was 6.9. My fasting blood sugar was over 200.

After reading everything I could I determined that cutting my carbs down to 50 carbs per day and walking 30-40 minutes a day would reverse the problem.. One year later my A1C was 5.2 and my blood sugar was at 100. I also dropped 70 lbs.

Know that every carbohydrate will raise your blood sugar 2pts. Although carbs are absorbed slower with protein just reduce your carb intake.

Thanks again all and happy Thanksgiving. I am starting this journey weighing 170 lbs at 5ft 5. I sure would like to drop 40 lbs. last time I went on a low carb diet, I reached my 130 goal, but vomited everyday, and that was without a gallbladder. Speculation was, I developed a stone in one of those ducts. I am eating more beans, and less meat. I know beans are full of carbs, but also full of fiber. I would love to exercise more, but after 12 hour days,5 days a week, I am pooped. Thanks in advance for all you who will be encouraging me.
