Has anyone here successfully gotten rid of tinnitus, or ringing in the ears?

Mine is so loud I can barely stand it. I can tell when I'm getting worse because the volume of the ringing turns up.

When you recover from lyme, does this go away?

I've been on abx for 2 months now, and have not noticed any improvements in my symptoms. How long does it take to start noticing improvements?

I have the pulsatile tinnitus - no ringing - but the sensation of a pulse in my ears - and when my ear is on the pillow, I hear a sort of "swoosh" - pulsing like a heartbeat.

it used to be much worse - in both ears. Now, since treatment the right ear is good...and the left ear is about 80% better - except when I am flaring or herxing.

When I go to bed at night - it's not there...but when I was up in the morning, it is (left ear).

I actually had wooshing (like washing machine noise) in one ear back in my early 20's and it went away on its own. I did find if I pressed on jugular vein wooshing went away. Does yours do that Girlie? I now have a very loud humming that drives me insane! Worse at night when there's no background noise. I have found nothing that helps yet. I am trying LDI (low dose immunotherapy) and if my tinnitis goes away I will let you know!

Mine comes and goes and seems to be more babesia related. Its one of the things that crops up when I take artemisia.

Background noise is your friend, since I've found it helps distract me from the ringing. Mine is pretty constant, not as bad as it was right now. It used to be like a scream-intensity ringing in my ears all the time. And sometimes now it'll go away for a little bit. I do find that having the tv on or music playing when I go to sleep is really important, since I need the distraction from the ringing so I can actually relax to sleep.

kyo07 - I have never pressed on my jugular. So, not sure. That sounds like blood flow involvement?

Glad yours went away...hoping mine will continue to get better.

I am curious about the LDI - I have a LLND fairly close that is treating patients - 3 hour drive each way to see her.
I think she offers sublingual form, too.

I actually had some type of brain scan done. It was prob 15 yrs ago now. The outcome was that something was close to my ear drum. Guessing blood vessel? I have no idea if I had lyme back then to know if it's related.

Mine sounds like I just got out of a really loud concert.

My friend who also has this had a SPECT scan and it turned up something relevant to this.

I have tinnitus due to noise exposure, not the Lyme, which means mine is not going away. If yours came during the lyme diagnosis I'd say if you treat it it'd have a good chance of leaving.


Keep in mind, antibiotics ending in "Mycin" can cause permanent damage to your ears / hearing and potentially cause or make tinnitus work. I would avoid and use alternatives if tinnitus is one of your symptoms.

gfields, my mom has tinnitus that is from babesia. We know this because as soon as she treats the babesia, it spikes. Something to consider treating if you aren't already.

Any chance u slee on your left side? I have found at my tinnitus is directly related to sleeping on my left side and have read how this could be due to a problem with the vagus nerve. If I sleep on my back or right side it is gone.

Oh Sarah - I just read your tinnitus is from Babs - hmmm...maybe another symptom to put in the Babs list.

springsjean - mine is way worse on my left side - but i sleep on my back and my right side.
My left side has upper body nerve issues...wonder if/how it's related. Maybe the bart has attacked my vagus nerve.

I have neuropathy issues as well for which I take neurotin. I ran out of cats claw this week and the tinnitus came back with a vengeance. If this disease doesn't drive u crazy the constant trying to figure out what causes what will!

Girlie, it's weird! I don't know WHY like scientifically, but both my LLMD and my acupuncturist said babesia can cause ear issues.

Babesia was a major symptom and concern for me. I used to have a recording studio and recording business that has kinda been sitting gathering dust for the last 4 years. Told myself that if I didn't see improvement with my Tinitus, I would start selling off gear in March as we have a ton of money in gear that just sits idly now. LUCKILY, last few months, my tinnitus has improved dramatically. Many days it's not even there now.

I so feel for you. You just don;t know how much you appreciate silence until you don't ever get any. It was literally driving me crazy. Hoping you guys find a way to get rid of it. I didn't use anything special, wish I did so I could tell you what works. Just a few years of grinding away at ABX.

Not brgging, I promise. Just wanted to post to let you know some of us to get rid of it, well at least 90%, and we will end it with "for now" so I don't jinx myself :p

Sorry for bumping the thread, but I'm sufferrinf from tinnitus and it drives me nuts. I read that there exist special sound devices that help to mask ear ringing. Did anyone try them? Maybe there are other options I can try?
