Foot pain in two year old

I have posted several times about my son over the last few months who had a bullseye in late August. His croup from a few days ago seems to have gone away. For the first time, he woke up a few minutes ago saying that his foot really hurts and "he needs ice". He has never complained about this before and we gave him Tylenol. He fell back asleep so nothing happening at the moment. Does this sound like lyme? We gave him four weeks of cephtin and azithromaxin from starting on October 11 through November. The doctor chose four weeks instead of six because of his age bit the doses were strong (he did not miss a dose).

Thanks for the reply. He has been on liquid herbs for the immune system and probiotics since the antibiotics.

My other kids are also sick with common stuff so I was not too worried about the croup. The foot thing is very weird and has me worried. He never complained before and woke up with the pain. Maybe he just slept funny but I am concerned. I texted Dr N and wait for his reply. I wonder if we should have done six weeks of antibiotics but Dr N was balancing age and long term impact of the meds.

Keep a close eye on him. One month of abx is not enough to kill even one cycle. I remember you posted earlier about this. Unfortunately, I know too well one month is not enough from the treatment I got and my children got. I agree with Trav--docs have to weigh the pros and cons. I would have asked the doc to keep him at least on 1 abx for 2 more weeks. Zithro is not as toxic as Cefdin and would have offered a little extra help for lyme and co. Don't wait, either add something to what his is already on, or go find a doc that will give him abx, if the leg pain returns. I will regret for the rest of my life that I waited and I hesitated because in most cases, the longer the infections go on, the harder to get rid of them.

Watch for other symptoms, no matter how minor or how rare they are. For many of us, the symptoms creep in slowly and it is easy to miss them, until the infections are well established and stubborn, when it becomes harder to treat and get rid of them.

My kid's doctor said that if the foot pain was related to lyme, it would not be a 1-time occurence.

Yesterday and this morning he is fine so maybe it was something else.

What is your experience?

If I were you, I would begin keeping a journal - just incase other weird things happen. Start it this weekend if you can, from the beginning. This way you have a clearer picture of things. I am very surprised Dr N was not strict to go at least 6 weeks. I know your son is only 2, but my daughter was only 3 and he treated her for 3 months without blinking.

My oldest daughter is still showing positive, so I started her on a lyme protocol on my own, with Dr N watching over her. I just dont want her on antibiotics again.....Dr N is an excellent Dr, but is not familiar with the protocols many of the members on here follow. However he is open to any ideas and different approaches, so bear that in mind!!
