minocycline and bactrim

Started mino 2x a day already in week one, have felt better burning pain control in combination with grape fruit, and bactrim. I have not added the bactrim cause im afraid. has anyone had any bad side effects of bactrim and what should i be looking for.

My second igenex test is on day 5 be getting results in about 10 working days. i have the results from fry labs where the results say detected a few biofilm community like structures, neurtrophil extracellular traps and /or organisms were observed using a flourescent dna staining technology. Findings suggestive of an unspecified infectious and/or parasitic disease.

What do those results mean? and should i add bactrim if my pain has eased a little. IM just afraid of aggravating the pain

Can you add the bactrim at half dose for a week..before going to full dose?

should i do half a pill daily or every ohter day. prescribed i pill 2x a day.

You could do one pill a day instead of two.

I had a bad reaction to bactrim after I added it to my zithro/mepron combo. My eyes dried out where I couldn't stop rubbing them and I had these horrible bags under my eyes its like I aged 40 years. I found out afterwards that my daughter has a slight allergy to sulfa drugs as when she took them when she was younger she broke out in hives.

No one can tell you if you'll have a bad reaction to it. What's important is to separate an allergic reaction (bad) from a herx (good). I see no reason you can't chop the pill in half using a pill chopper and trying half the directed dose.

you can start off slow as girlie suggested. Bactrim is a great drug - I was on it, the only thing you have to be mainly concerned about is allergies - some people are allergic to sulfur drugs and you only find out when you start taking them!! just pay close attention, and if you end up with a rash or hives, stop it immediately and call your Dr. I herxed from bactrim, but did not suffer any side effects from it. I took it together with zithromax.

I am on mino, bactrim and ceftin. I started on the bactrim 1/2 pill 2x a day. Then increased a week later to 1 pill 2x a day. I havent had any problems taking them. I am taking a good probiotic and i have to eat before i take them.

Thank u all for the replies. i took 1/2 a pill about an hour ago so far im ok. Does anyone know the what the results mean for the blood smear from fry labs

I am taking it for something else, possible mastitis, my breast is swollen and red. Giving it a few days before going for an MD visit. The heat and swelling, redness is subsiding, I was beginning that I needed a trip to the ER.... or make an appointment with my breast doc.
Also taking Doxycycline which I was already on, off and on. I am surprised that the pain in my hip and knees if much better and I feel better overall. It would have to be the Bactrim. I have no problems taking it so far, this is my 4th time being on it, but it does seem to be helping the Lyme.

I used bactrim for a bladder infection and had a really gnarly herx. The payoff for when I was off was worth it! My bowels began to work DAILY for the first time in eons and some of the cognitive fog/issues cleared. I just lived in the bathtub, basically, at night. Had no other alternative because I needed to get the bladder infection under control.
