LDN - increase in numbness at night

My doc suggested LDN for immune support. Tried 1.5 mg before bed and I had a severe increase in my limbs going numb while trying to sleep. It was way worse than normal and arms/feet were going numb in a very short time. I wasn't able to get much sleep.

I have read about LDN and can't figure out for sure why it would do this. The only thing I have found is that LDN can exacerbate candida. I have wondered if candida is my main issue before.

Has anyone had this experience with LDN?

I tried LDN - before I knew I had LD.

I started with the 1.5 and then increased...after a few weeks.

I ended up having pain at night...which I never had prior to using it...
I stopped it after raising the dose didn't help.

It could have been a coincidence...I don't know for sure.

So, not quite the same as what you're experiencing - but a different adverse reaction perhaps.

Are you going to try increasing to 3.0 mg?

I have no idea. I may try one more time at 1.5. If it happens again I may try 3. I'm leary because I got hardly any sleep.

It's strange that it would cause an adverse reaction though. Have you ever had a candida issue?

It can take awhile to work though - as in several weeks.

i don't know if I have a candida issue. I don't have obvious symptoms - like bloating/diarrhea/white tongue/itching "down below"/no skin rashes

But, apparently some lyme symptoms are the same as Candida symptoms.

My LLND has given me Nystatin pills to take....I'm not taking them regularly, though.

I've been and am on LDN since a while now, but haven't had that issue...
It's not easy to find a listing of LDN side effects, just had a look around on the internet. I read about insomnia and vivid dreams, but not about numbness. Most side effects seem to dissolve after a while.

If you are on Facebook, you could join 2 intresting groups 'Got endorphines? LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone)' and 'LDN Research Trust - Low Dose Naltrexone'. The first group has a long list of intresting files.

I hope you can get an answer there.

I am just worried because it really increased the numbness. My arms and legs were literally falling asleep shortly after I would move them. I will try again tonight to see if it was just coincidence. I did find incidence that LDN exacerbates candida. I am hoping to get tested for it soon.

My initial onset of being sick started with a yeast infection/abnormal pap (now it is normal) followed by what was possibly a candida UTI (was not bacterial). One month later I noticed numbness in my foot which spread over the rest of my body. While urinary issues did clear up, I did notice they seemed better when I took diflucan. I never took more than 2 per week so it would not have knocked it out. Antibiotics (especially when taking more than one) seem to bring back the urinary issues. I had previously assumed it was a herx or flare up, but now wonder if it is just allowing the candida to grow.

These factors combined make me wonder if I am dealing with a candida issue possibly in the CNS.

new here. I have lyme as confirmed by CDC rules (conservative).

I'm on 4.5 mg LDN and can say it's been helping a lot. It's done wonders for my brain fog, which I don't know if it's from lyme or my hashis.

I don't know if the LDN has any negative effects. I take it before bed and just sleep through whatever it's doing.

I also recently started CBD oil.

Have you noticed anything from the oil yet?

I'll check it out, but unfortunately, I'm not new to Lyme;-(

Found this forum because I was looking for info on infrared saunas.

I've only been trying CBD for a couple of days so far, so I can't really say that I've noticed anything. I will say that it tastes somewhat like bee propolis, for what it's worth, maybe there are some similar compounds. My CBD was about $140 for 40 day supply. That's not inexpensive.

One thing I would like to say is that I had been to dozens of doctors over several decades. None figured out that I had Lyme. I then went to Dr. Mielke in Pleasanton, CA at http://www.optimalhealthspectrums.com/.

SHE figured it out on my first visit!! Thanks Doc.

She is out of pocket though, mucho $$.

She is also the first doctor to allow me to try LDN, which I immediately liked the result.

Thank goodness there are a few doctors left that aren't complete morons.

I'm curious if any of you guys with LDN experience had at some point been on opioids?

I'm being kicked off hydrocodone with no alternatives offered. I do respond well to the hydrocodone. I've never had any adverse reactions to the hydrocodone.

Looking at the background science it seems that LDN would work for me because it is just changing one molecule that plugs into the endorphin creating receptors with another.

So I'm interested to hear if LDN is the first thing you tried and are you trying to make the transition.
