Oh I was under the impression that the PICC line is a better way to treat it because it goes directly through the body and it crosses the BBB?? My biggest fear is that the medication will not get to the brain where I'm having problems. And yeah I have that rash. I told my LLMD about it and he looked at it and based on my symptoms said I have Bart. I don't think I had these infections for years or maybe I just didn't have symptoms. I started getting sick last year and it took around 8 months to get diagnosed which i know is a lot shorter than most people so I would think treatment time would be less but maybe I am wrong. I guess it doesn't matter how long you had the infection before starting treatment?
No, there are abx that cross the BBB without being administered by PICC - Minocycline is one of them. I'm not very knowledgeable on the abx used, as I had to heal with herbs only due to my being an abx failure. I tried using abx and ended up much worse.
And it doesn't really matter how long you've had these infections when determining what type of treatment or if you need to use a PICC either. I was infected for 37 years before being diagnosed, 40 years before finding a treatment that I could tolerate. All herbs were administered orally.
You mentioned that you thought it could be a herx - are you detoxing? What all are you doing to detox? Some of us have to do a LOT and others not so much. You have to just keep adding in detoxing routines until you find a good level of detoxing for you. We have some really great detoxing suggestions in our "New to Lyme?" thread and there are more great suggestions here:
