Hi guys so I've had 2 Igenex tests in the past come back positive for Babesia on the FISH test. Now, to this day, I have had zero classic babesia symptoms and have yet to react in any way to mepron or any anti-parasitic that I've tried.

However, I am 99.99% sure I have Bartonella, based on high IGG antibodies [1:128], red spots, muscle twitches, sleep disturbances, back streak rash and GI issues.

My question is, is it possible that the Igenex lab people mistook Bartonella inside my red blood cells for Babesia and reported the FISH results as Babesia by mistake? Or is that scientifically impossible? Just curious. Thanks

Is it possible you have other Babs symptoms...just not the classic ones - such a as air hunger....
Couldn't the red spots be Babs?

When you trialled the Babs treatment - did you give it a long enough time?

Even if the lab people could make that mistake...they would have made that same mistake twice? Very unlikely IMO.

We are seeing more and more asymptomatic Babesia (& Bartonella too) infections, but those that have them have to treat for them in order to heal the other infections.

Your immune system may not be producing antibodies for Bartonella, but as you know, that doesn't mean you don't have it.

I believe it's nearly impossible to mix up these results in the lab - but you may want to call Igenex and ask them about it, just to soothe your mind.

thanks for the replies so far.

Traveler, as I stated, I do have IGG antibodies to Bartonella as per Galaxy Labs testing.

Is it possible that I have both babesia [as per FISH results] and bartonella, and that since all my symptoms seem to be from Bart, once I treat the bart, both the babs and the bart will disappear?

Or that I'll still harbor the babs but be asymptomatic for life?

Do you guys believe that there are parts of the population that can harbor babs/bart and have no symptoms until either very old age [immunity lowers over time] or no symptoms at all until death from other causes?

Sometimes when treating one infection, another one will come to the forefront.
So perhaps during your Bart treatment, Babs symptoms will emerge.

There are some LLMD's who will treat all three B's to make sure.

I very much agree with what Girlie said - yes, it's very possible for the Bab symptoms to come out as - or after - you treat Bart.

I said Bart too for the benefit of others reading this conversation either now or later. Sorry. I didn't mean that you were ignoring a Bart infection.

You will have to treat for Babesia, even if you don't have symptoms now. The symptoms won't stay dormant forever and you don't want them getting a good foot hold in your body.

I'll be going into more detail about this when I get back (next week), but I now believe that when I was reinfected in 2014 with Lyme that I got more than just Lyme (should have figured that would happen! I know that it's unusual for just Lyme to be passed!) - but I only treated for Lyme because those were the only symptoms I had. My adrenal and thyroid symptoms kept me from seeing those symptoms until they were significant enough to interfere with things - and that lovely air hunger.

Now, approx. 18 months later, and 13 months after ending treatment for Lyme, I will be putting myself back into treatment for Babs and Bart because those symptoms are now coming out more and more - and this time I'm keeping my eye peeled for Lyme symptoms as I sure want to be on top of these things this time!!!

These infections are so very complex that it's truly amazing! And if they didn't make us so sick, I'd be fascinated. I do agree with your last statement though - I think it's quite possible. Unfortunately many of these symptoms people are just told it's old age that is causing them though, so I'm not so sure about having no symptoms, I believe that the symptoms aren't recognized for what they are is all.
