Rheumatologist near New Haven Ct

Can anyone recommend a rheumatologist near New Haven, Ct? Having chronic inflammation of joints, first tendonitis, then all joints on fire. I want to rule out Lupus and RA.

Has your regular Dr. done any blood tests for markers of those AI diseases?

My regular GP was able to rule them out...by doing all the AI tests for RA, Lupus, Sjogren's, (and a few more)

Or is it standard in the U.S. to go to a Rheumatologist right away?

seyshell, those sound like Lyme symptoms...why would you want to go to a rheumatologist?

Yes and I have been treated in beginning of Lyme which I contracted 4 1/2 years ago with antibiotics for year and half and see LLMD every two months and holistic doc too. I have been doing good with maybe one flareup a year. But since end of December it seems like one thing after another...tendonitis for a few weeks where I couldnt walk for 3 days, not this is 3rd week of joint pain...this time new in shoulder joints and thumb joint. LLMD put me back on 3 antibiotics and they have done nothing...I am sooo frustrated.

I think primary doc wants to rule out RA? I was hoping this was just viral but its not leaving??

I just don't think a rheumatologist is the way to go. They will find something to label it as, like fibromyalgia, rather than finding and treating an infection which is the cause. Even RA has a root cause.

So sorry you're dealing with these issues!

Were you diagnosed and treated for only Lyme? Did your LLMD ever mention coinfections to you? Were you symptom-free for two months before going off abx the first time?

What are you taking now?

And, what all are you doing for detoxing?

Do you take anything to help your joints like gelatin and/or silica (BioSil)?

Knowing the answers to these questions can help us help you...

and it still sounds to me like you're having these symptoms because you haven't adequately treated your Lyme.

I have had Lyme since may 2011. How to be adequately treated...?? sarah. Yes I have lyme co-infections...have an infra red sauna, and do rife machine treatments at holistic dr. The part that is puzzling me...is I have been 85-90% and only one flare up a year..that never lasted more than 2 weeks....
This time LLMD treated me with 2 Doxy 2x daily with Azithromycin one daily Monday to Thursday and one Tindamax friday saturday and sunday.
Been on that for 2 weeks ...stopped a week and now over 2 weeks on it and now let up of joint pain.
I thought I was fighting a virus as sinus pressure too!
cd3764 - I don't take gelatin or silica? I take Neem supplements, monolaurin, vit c, fish oil, NAC, Tumeric coq10.

My personal opinion is that you have lyme still and all your symptoms are lyme related. Only a lyme doctor will be able to treat you.

A rheumy will ONLY look for rheumy items and if he discovers the slightest thing you will be going to him over and over for that slightest thing he finds and he will definitely not believe in lyme disease or your lyme treatments.

Neurosurgeons are the same way.

This is just my opinion based on my experiences. Heck, my Internal Medicine doctor treated me for a supposed sinus infection when it was lyme.

If they aren't lyme smart, you will have a battle on your hands trying to get well. I have not heard of a lyme/rheumy doctor.

Talk to your lyme doctor. He will direct you. Remember you can always say to your doctor, "that didn't work, what else can we try?" Make him do the work!! You are paying him good enough for that.

^ I agree with this completely.

Also, sinus pressure does not mean it's a virus. That could still be lyme or another infection.
