Herx?

Last week I saw a LLMD, and have begun my treatment for Lyme. Preliminary test show I have, but waiting for Igenex test to come back. I have cognitive, memory issues, joint pain, bruising. My doctor startedme on a detox, and the A-L complex. And in a few days I'll be starting the artemsinin. The night before last, I had what appeared to be several lines that looked like scratches on my arms. Could that be a herx from the treatment. Also, it seems every blood test I've been having done something is out of whack... My b12 was too low, I have what they think possible iron overload, many candida was high. It's so disheartening to continue to have something wrong, and the battle becomes overwhelming.

I am very new to this forum, too - my journey since this past summer only leading me here recently. Trust me when I say you have come to the right place - and these devoted forum members with more experience and moderators will give you the support you are looking for.

Though I don't feel qualified to talk about Lyme at this point, I do want to give you support on a few items I can relate to.

You mentioned the disheartening issue of everything being broken, abnormal or wrong. I hope the following helps you.

I arrived at this forum "backwards" so to speak. I have had a history of weird illnesses in my 47 years of life, but last summer my body gave up. Long story short, due to unbearable and scary symptoms, I got lab tests for my thyroid and determined I had a huge, flaring case of Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid). I thought, "ok - I can solve this" (I do most things on my own, no doctor).

Well like a long line of domino tiles, I had no clue I was only at the end of the line! Since last summer, thinking my thyroid was the cause for everything, I researched like mad. Thought it was all due to "just a mineral deficiency." Yep. Every...single...test....I took was terrible. Low D, Low Mag....just recently high ferritin with low normal iron. It was making me so scared and sad I stopped doing labwork! Not saying that is wise, but I was too traumatized to see yet another deficiency or excess or odd result.

So moving on down the domino line.......

It wasn't just a quick fix deficiency. So then I eliminated foods. No change in terrible symptoms. Then I tried various diets (not weight loss, they were geared toward other ailments). Nope. Low stomach acid? Probably but it did nothing but burn my esophagus. I think you get the idea. I was certain I was dying and my body was self destructing.

Almost ready to give up hope and assume I had some sinister, hopeless ailment, I tried one more thing. I was so skeptical I am sure I did eye rolling when I bought the product. I decided to do a parasite cleanse. All of the sudden my lifelong and current symptoms started changing, virtually overnight. NOTHING had even given me a hint of change...this made an impact.

Once I started researching parasites, Lyme kept popping up....and my daughter and myself both, with our lives full of odd viruses, autoimmune diseases, rashes.......it all started coming together.

My inspirational point in all of this is that YOU HAVE REACHED THE FIRST DOMINO....you did it. Celebrate this.

All of our bodies are different and the long line of dominoes we will have to clean up and pick up while we heal will take work, but I found my root cause. You have found your root cause. All of the other bad news, not to oversimplify it but i am referring to weird lab values or other illness, is a symptoms of the destruction...not yet another isolated incident of illness.

I am early on my path to healing, but I know that feeling of "what ISN'T broken in me/abnormal??" I just wanted you to know you aren't alone. I have read so many stories of the other "wrong things" turning around when you attack the root cause of your illness.......That is what I believe, 100%. Put out the flame and the fire starts to go out.......

Once we are in treatment, new symptoms are more than likely a herx - especially if increased detoxing helps somewhat.

Detoxing is one of the best things we can do for ourselves as we go through treatment. I know that, in my early days, it seemed like I couldn't add new detoxing methods fast enough.

Yes, it's a tough journey and it's a long one. But, people heal and that's the best part.

Yes, she's doing the Igenex because of my symptoms, and I had a band 23 come back reactive on the typical test. Also had an MRI with neuro quant software that showed suggestive neuro lyme. I'm detoxing with glutathione, would that also take care of parasites?
