Ileocecal Valve & Antibiotics

Has anyone experienced problems with their Ileocecal Valve after being on extensive antibiotic treatment for Lyme & company? I've been on antibiotics for 14 months and about a month ago developed severe pain in the area of the valve, bloating, intestinal pressure, and loss of appetite. My chiropractor is the one who explained to me that the ileocecal valve is where the large and small intestine meet. It prevents backflow from the large intestine to the small intestine. She feels my body is no longer able to handle the antibiotics. I have an appointment with my LLMD on Thursday so I'll she what she says. Further, I have not had any improvement from the antibiotics since starting on them 14 months ago and now feel like the side effects are starting to cause new issues. I believe that I may need to pursue a different method of treatment and am considering trying Traveler's Chronic Tonic. I tolerate Chinese herbs very well, so I think it may be time to make the change.

My LLMD has been rotating my antibiotics about every 3 months. I will see her in a couple of days so I need to see where we go from here. I had one major herx in May of last year, but did not have any improvement after it. I've also had a few minor herxes, but again, no improvement. Based on my latest C4a she said that my Lyme-related inflammation has come down and now thinks the Babesia is causing most of my symptoms. She has started me on A-Bab and I did initially have some herxing, but I'm now up to 15 drops two times a day and again have had no improvement. She tested me for MARCONS, but the test came back negative, which was a huge disappointment because I was hopeful that would explain why I'm not getting better. Needless to say, I'm kind of scared. I'm not sure that there is much else that she can do for me at this point, but I'll find out on in a couple of days.

I take a 66 billion probiotic in the morning and a 50-billion probiotic at bedtime.

While which herbal protocol you should use is completely up to you, the CT isn't made with "Chinese herbs" specifically. They are herbs that are used for these infections is all. It's worked very well for me each time I have used it, but it doesn't work well for everyone that tries it. One difference could be that I bought my own herbs and made my own medicinal tea instead of using something already made up.

Thanks, Trav, I will definitely plan on making my own CT if that's the route I go. It gives me great hope to know that has worked for you twice, and it has always been in the back of mind as a treatment to try if antibiotics don't work for me.

Girlie, I have detoxed the entire time I've been on antibiotics with Epsom salt/hydrogen peroxide baths and also foot baths. My protocols to date have included:

9/23/14 - 11/3/14: CoArtem, Doxycycline
11/3/14-1/6/15: Biltricide, Pyrantel Pamoate, Tinidazole, Doxycycline
1/6/15-3/25/15: Tinidazole, Doxycycline, Septra
3/25/15-7/8/15: Tinidazole,Zithromax, Hydroxychloroquine, Septra, Malarone, Stromectol (this is the combination that created a severe herx but afterwards I did not have any improvement)
7/8/15-9/23/15: Alinia, Artemesinin, Minocycline, Rifampin
9/23/15-11/23/15: Artemesinin, Tinidazole, Minocycline, Rifampin
11/23/15-1/18/16: Artemesinin, Tinidazole, Clarithromycin, Hydroxychloroquine, Septra, Albendazole
1/18/16-Present: Artemesinin, A-Bab, Tinidazole, Clarithromycin, Hydroxychloroquine, Septra

As you can see, she has treated me for parasites, Lyme, Bart, and Babesia. At one point she wanted to put me on Cipro and/or Levaquin, which I did not want to do because I already have tendonitis issues, and she was totally okay with that. She really feels that Babesia is the cause of the majority of my symptoms and that I have a strain(s) that is very resistant to treatment.

Thanks so much, Trav. My LLMD believes that the majority of my symptoms are now coming from Babesia. I noticed in your signature line that you did have Babesia in the past and are treating it now using an herb-only treatment. Is that the Houttuynia or is it another herb? So sorry to be a bother...
