Physiotherapy - Laser therapy

I am so skeptical of doctors and their treatments. Just wanted you to know where I was coming from. If it were me----

1. Ask how much it will cost. And also make sure they factor in the appointment.

2. What kind of a schedule does he want to do this on? Once a week, day, month?

3. Calculate the total expense always remembering that not only are you being charged for the treatment, but also for the appointment (most places this is the case).

The looks of that Biobeam 940 might be a less expensive way to go. I saw one online for $105 and maybe there are some even less expensive. One time shot of a hundred bucks compared to what will your doctor order????? Something to think about.

Awww insurance coverage is good! Just make sure your insurance okays all the appointments. They sometimes have an allowance for physical therapy per injury.

Since the Biobeam 940 is okayed on the tired of lyme site, I would think that the heavy duty treatment at the physical therapy place would be okay also. Ask your LLMD just to be sure. You can always call and ask his nurse. My nurse and I are very connected. If she doesn't know she asks him and then calls me back.

Heat can make lyme bugs dance inside of me. But that could just be me. Right after getting lyme I could no longer take a HOT shower. I felt like the witch on the wizard of oz that was melting. I felt like when superman was put next to kryptonite. I got light headed and dizzy. So be careful and watch for these feelings.

I am a huge proponent of ice. Ice will keep the inflammation down and inflammation makes things crowded and that causes pain.

I have not read any studies on this so I could be wrong but I think a laser could be helpful. Red light (not just lasers) has been proven to help damaged mitochondria produce more ATP and less free radicals. More energy and less free radicals means faster healing time and less inflammation. When you have damaged tissues like a sprain you will have damaged mitochondria. As PeteZa said Lyme and friends gravitate to injured areas and scare tissue. They do this because they actually benefit from inflammation, they high-jack the inflammatory process for their survival.
It has been my experience that some people do really well with lasers while others it does nothing. I think certain people have some sort of defect that makes them more receptive to it. I have never heard of a negative reaction with lasers when used correctly (you can over do it), but with Lyme it seems anything is possible.
I would give it a go but don't commit to any long term plans to see how you respond. If it helps great but if not your not out much.

What kind of laser is your doctor using?

I've had laser therapy on an injury. It worked amazing. I did 6 months of physical therapy with minimal improvement. The my ND had me do laser therapy and massage instead, huge difference. I was back to normal on 2 months.

Lasers have been found beneficial for Lyme and other Bacteria. Infrared will kill the bacteria if I'm not mistaken.

When I was doing it I was symptomatic with Lyme. I had the laser all over my arm and shoulder, did not cause any aggravation.
My ND uses and Erchonia cold laser I believe
