No discernible pattern treating Bart!

I'm treating Bart using Rifampin and Doxy. I'm getting head inflammation, chest pain/heart racing and swollen lymph nodes. The symptoms get worse at times but I can't find any discernible patterns that would help me to understand am I herxing or is this a flare up? Anyone else have this problem? I'd like to differentiate because I'd like to know if the medication is working or is it ineffective and the bugs are just having their way with me. Thanks.

thanks cd i've read that many times and it doesn't help :( basically i've had the same head issues for almost 18 months and they go away at times depending on treatment but always end up coming back so they all seem like a flare to me.

I guess because I started out with mild and transient symptoms, I considered all new symptoms during treatment to be herxes.

And, since most of the original symptoms disappeared for blocks of time and then reappeared when my treatment changed, I considered those herxes.

I'm thinking if a symptom returns, that's a sign we need to treat longer - blech.

You're seeing a new LLMD - right? Any insight from him/her on the matter?

This stuff makes me nutz too.

It's pretty annoying alright.

I can tell I'm having a Bart herx when everything is intensified. My body normally aches, but when I have a herx I get palpitations and I feel like I just have to lay down right away. When it's flares, I just push through them.

I dunno if that helps at all. Do you happen to have Babesia?

cd I'm seeing a new LLMD. I did mention herxes when i first met her and she thinks herxes are a worsening of symptoms and don't usually last longer than 12 hours or so. I'm sure others here would disagree ;)

Leilex I have Igenex lab positive Lyme and Babesia Duncani. Almost 100% positive I have Bart as well.

If you are on meds specifically targeting Bart and the symptoms intensify. AND... you know you have Bart (Based on your symptoms, I think that's a definite) then, that is a herx. That's the only way I can see it. Unless you have some super Bart that is totally resistant, which I do not think that's the case.

I mixed an electrolyte drink with one alka-seltzer gold this morn. It cleared my Bart herx really quickly. So, I knew for sure it was a herx. Can you try something like this? A test of sorts.

I really think they are herxes though. How long have you been on the ABX's?

Oh, the meds are def effective. Especially if you haven't been on ABX long. (I just reread your post!)

Oh, I remember why I asked you about Babs (Forgot!). It's that Babs is highly connected to head issues. Could it be that you are treating Bart, but It's Babs that is coming up and giving you the reoccurring issues? Just a possibility. You won't know until you treat Babs to see what happens I guess.

Sorry if I'm confusing you, but I think it's either a def herx from Bart meds or it's Babs just waiting to get treated. I get Bart and Babs head symptoms too, but they are located in diff areas of the head. Annoying...

The answers will come. Don't get too frustrated.
