The hypothalamus produces hormones that control: Body temperature, Hunger, Moods, Release of hormones from many glands, especially the pituitary gland, sex drive, Sleep, Thirst, and also helps regulate: Childbirth, Emotions, Growth, Milk production, Salt and water balance, Sleep, Weight and appetite.
The adrenal gland, following signals from the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, is responsible for the secretion of cortisol, a type of essential glucocorticoid steroid hormone. Cortisol levels are highest in the morning around 7 a.m. and lowest at night (called a diurnal rhythm). Cortisol is also present in both chronically stressed individuals and those who are perfectly healthy. This vital hormone possesses dozens of different purposes within the body and makes numerous chemical interactions every single day.
I would talk to your doctor about having your adrenals checked. Illnesses and infection (yep, we got that) can really affect your adrenals. Lyme affects most everything in our body.
I am not a doctor and this was just a guess on my part. But it is an easy peasy test and might be worth discussing with your doctor.
